Not a recommendation - I was dissatisfied with the results of the surgery

ORIGINAL POST

Not a Recommendation

I went to Dr. V. Wright for facial plastic surgery, the results were definitely not to my satisfaction, nor any of the expectations I had been assured of. I clearly expressed this to him, even after an additional corrective procedure I was still unhappy. Does my face look like I had surgery, yes, was it what I requested, no. On May 26th I received an email from Dr. Wright stating that “the consensus, (of other plastic surgeons he consulted), was that your results (while not perfect) are within reasonable expectations” ‘Within reasonable expectations’ should have been discussed before the surgery, I was told, with confidence, my specific goals would be able to be achieved.
At the preliminary visit, in the Fall of 2019, I described what I wanted to achieve. A full-face CO2 laser treatment to correct general aging, particularly the wrinkling and scaring around my nose, mouth and chin. I demonstrated with my hand on my brow and neck what I expected with a borrow lift and neck lift that eliminated the furrows on my brow and the sagging neck and jowls that were beginning to develop. I also wanted to eliminate the bags under my eyes. Pointing out the ‘scar reduction’ over my left eyebrow, the ‘bag’ under my right eye that was markedly more pronounced so a compensation could be made for the ‘unevenness’ in those areas. Dr. Wright assured me this was possible, then explained for my neck I need to include a lower face lift, demonstrating the necessary technique on my face.
Dr. Wright presented himself with an aura of confidence and knowledge, as well exhibiting an excellent ‘bedside’ manner that made me feel at ease with the choice I made after my research. The proposal was written up and priced.
At the subsequent pre-op visit, Dr. Wright mentioned that my upper teeth were not visible and suggested ‘bull nose’ surgery to correct the issue. I was concerned about scaring, pointing to the two surgical scars in that area, he assured me that would not happen. We added that to the proposal and we scheduled the surgery for May 2020, then when COVID became an issue, I postponed it.
In the spring of 2021, I rescheduled the surgery for the next available date, October 14th, 2021. I suggested doing the laser at a later date in case of scaring, he assured me that would not be an issue.
On morning of the surgery, Dr. Wright took measurements for the ‘bull nose’ to allow my front teeth to show. I asked Dr. Wright to indicate the placement of the incisions for my brow lift, (I wasn’t sure the terminology ‘bilateral brow lift’ was what I had described), he indicated on each side of my forehead and the center top of my forehead, that reassured me the surgery would lift my whole brow. I was surprised the next morning when I was told there were no stitches at the top center of my brow, was told my ‘brow lift’ concern would be fixed with this more commonly done procedure.
At my next appointment, on Oct. 25th, I mentioned to Dr. Wright that I was dissatisfied with the results of the surgery, the neck lift and jowls were lopsided and saggy, the brow surgery basically only lifted the exterior end of my eyebrows, unevenly. He said I was still swollen. At the appointment on Nov. 11th, I reiterated the issues with the brow and neck lift and I felt nothing that I had discussed with him originally had been noted, remembered or addressed. I pointed out the obvious scar under my nose, you still could not see my front teeth. He offered to correct the neck and brow issues at no additional cost. I also addressed the lack of success of the laser treatment, having had a full-face laser treatment before gave me a reasonable idea of what the results should be by this point. Dr. Wright explained there was an issue with the laser usage and my oxygen level dropping. He stated he would laser the areas of concern using a local. He reassured me everything would settle in, be corrected and I would be happy.
On 1/12/22, after I was prepped for the laser treatment, their laser, (obviously an older model which concerned me), malfunctioned while they were doing the diagnostics. I was particularly distressed when I heard Dr. Wright say, ‘when was the last time this was serviced’. He said he would schedule it for another date. I was subsequently told they had to purchase a new laser and would not ‘piggyback’ me onto a date when they rented a laser since they pay for it per person not per day or hour. That was not my original understanding, I am still waiting.
On February 16th, Dr. Wright preformed the corrective surgery, I saw him the next day, again on February 25th, March 24th and then again on April 20th when I explained I was still dissatisfied with the way my jowls looked and my neck still sagging and was noticeably uneven and floppy, sticking to itself when I put my chin down. He told me he removed a lot of skin during the surgery and will confer with his colleagues about it.
I called the office on or about Monday June 6th and asked that Dr. Wright call me, 3 weeks later I called again on Friday July 1st and again asked that he call me since he had not returned my call, I have still not heard from him as of today, Saturday July 18th.

I have a very similar experience - Dr Wright seems to just have excuses as to why he hasn’t returned your call, text., request via office staff, etc. He exhibits no concern for the desired result he promised. In my case, he not only did not give me the desired result after a brow lift, but stated he practically stood on the table to pull my brows and there was nothing he could do - if that’s the case, he shouldn’t have scheduled me for such a surgery since evidently it’s not his expertise. He definitely has no concern that I do not have a desired result although he was paid for such a service. Furthermore, I have left eye pain since having surgery with him - he has no compassion and states it has nothing to do with the surgery although I never had eye pain prior to my surgery - truly disappointed!
