I found Dr. Westreich after looking for a surgeon...
WORTH IT$6,500
I found Dr. Westreich after looking for a surgeon over the course of several months. Originally, I had went to a different office but I went for a second opinion when I felt as though the first doctor wasn't really listening to what I had to say. I didn't like my nose, but I also didn't hate it. I wanted to change it but not drastically so my goal was to find a doctor who would give me a natural look (I think that's what most of us want, right?) . As soon as I had my consult with Dr. Westreich, I knew that he was going to be my doctor. He was very patient (I say this because I had many concerns and changed my mind quite often), helpful and most important, realistic about what my results would be. He spent time listening to me telling him what I wanted, and then told me what he thought would be best and we met somewhere in the middle. I was concerned about the bump on my nose, which looked the worst at a 45 degree angle and appeared to make my nose look long . I was concerned that if I got rid of the bump then my nose would look even longer but Dr. Westreich assured me that it wouldn't be the case. Anyway, I booked my appointment for several months later (because at the time I was in school) and waited patiently for the day to come.
On the day of the surgery, I was more excited than nervous. I knew that after surgery, my face would be puffy, swollen and bruised but within two weeks I would be able to see my new nose. I did a lot of research before actually getting the surgery, so I already knew what to expect when it came to the recovery process. I knew that it wouldn't be easy and that I would have to have patience especially when it came to changing that mustache bandage every hour or so. My recovery wasn't too bad, it wasn't painful at all because I remember being prescribed pain killers, of which i took none. The worst part of the recovery process (for me at least) was when all the blood dried up in my nose and I really couldn't breathe at all (and no saline spray in the world would help this situation). I would describe the recovery process as more uncomfortable instead of painful.
I believe it was after about a week and a few days that I went to see my doctor and he cut off my cast and left me with my split to wear for another month or so. My nose was SUPER swollen the day that the cast came off. The swelling didn't go down too much for the first week after the cast came off but after about a month I started noticing a difference with every passing day.
It is now two years later and I absolutely love my nose. There are still days that it gets a little swollen, but even on my worst day it looks better than it did. I couldn't be happier with my results and with my decision of going to my doctor specifically. Before my surgery, I couldn't breathe at all. I was a mouth breather to such a point that even after my surgery I had to get adjusted to breathing through my nose (I had a deviated septum and some nasal polyps). I can breathe much better now, although still not 100% but I attribute that to my allergies.
For anyone who is considering getting this procedure done, I would suggest do your research and make sure that it is right for you. Most importantly, make sure you do your research when it comes to your physician.
...and finally, to my best of knowledge (since this was two years ago), I paid:
around $300 dollars (for my copayments to see my physician, and my imaging consult)
$4,500 to my doctor for my surgery
and all the rest of my fees were hospital fees, my total came to about $6,500.
