Hi everyone! Let me start by saying how grateful I am to everyone who has shared their experience so far, it's helped me so much. So here I am, hoping that this may help somebody else out in turn.
Your words resonate with me so much, I find myself reading and nodding along like a nodding dog when you describe the 'oddness' that took so long to put your finger on!
I've never considered myself an attractive girl. I like my eyes, cheeks and smile- so I couldn't figure out what it was that made me feel so unpretty.
About ten years ago I saw a headline about chin implants and kinda laughed like it was the strangest thing I've ever heard. Then when I saw pictures, it all just clicked into place- this is what is wrong with me!
I looked into it properly about 5 years ago but brushed it off as being 'too dramatic', telling myself I'll get over it.
But when I find myself choosing my seat in the staffroom based on whether people will see me from the side, or covering my neck with me hair, hands whenever I talk to someone next to me, when I delete 99% of pictures of me based on how my neck/chin looks, and even find myself pulling the neck of my top up over my chin when I'm sat talking to my husband, I realised I'd never really quite get over it. For me this isn't dramatic at all, it's exactly what I need to try and win back what's left of my self esteem.
So far everyone I've told has been very supportive, not necessarily understanding, but I think only we know just how all-consuming it is to worry about your face ALL THE TIME. I'm often met with 'everyone has a double chin!' But actually, no they don't. I'd know, I spend 90% of my time looking jealously at people who don't have to pay nearly 6k for a beautiful jawline and sculpted neck!
So.... 3 days to go until my chin implant (surgeon has yet to decide on size) and neck liposuction. I've gone past nerves now and just cannot wait.
If anyone has any experience they could share of recovering with a toddler to look after, that would be great! That's my only cause of anxiety thus far!
Thanks for reading, I look forward to updating you all.

Surgery done!

Hi guys- so it's done!
The pain was unbearable when I woke (implant was done via incision in the mouth and liposuction done from two under chin incisions)
Managing the pain ok now though with lots of Meds.
Please tell me I'm not the only one that freaked out straight after cause it looks MASSIVE right now! The logical side of me is saying, "calm down! Of COURSE It's swelling!" But the (louder) illogical part is screaming "Oh my God what have you done!?"
Please tell me this is normal!

it's swelling!!!! don't worry!!! keep the compression garment on as instructed by the doctor to ensure a tight outcome :) so happy for you!!!

Thanks so much for commenting! I went for a medium implant and panicked that I should have gone for small- I think it actually looks OK until I try to smile!
I think I'm extra swollen cause I have stitches both inside and outside of my mouth.
Drugs are good though!

Did the dr let you choose the size of the implant beforehand?? I think you'll be totally fine with a medium :)

I suggested medium and he agreed. Going to take some getting used to still.

Hi. Did you use a medium extended anatomical implant (wings) or medium anatomical implant?

I honestly have no idea! I have an appt with my surgeon later, I'll try to remember to ask.

Ahh, I remember how I looked 1 day post op. I could have charged people money to use it as an IMAX screen. Now I'm considering going up a size because I think I could use a bit more projection!!
You're looking incredible one month post, good for you for going through with it! I know how terrified I was, but you're right in that for most of us it is the right decision.

Hi! So it's been just over 48hrs since the surgery. I'm managing the pain a little better in the day, finding it rather difficult to sleep though and find the pain awful when I wake. I'm going to set alarms to make sure I take painkillers in the night.
I'm still mostly swollen, lip and chin still completely numb but I am feeling some 'zaps' and 'tingles' which tells me it's coming back to life!
Feeling a little nauseous, and the compression garment wrapped around my throat does not help. All in all, I'm experiencing a bit more discomfort than I imagined, but I know it won't last long.
I think I'm slightly less swollen than yesterday? Who knows!
I can't wait to see what's behind all of this swelling!

I remember that pain!! It's b/c of the darn compression garment. It really hurts to have so much pressure on the surgical area :( just bear with it for a few more days, it'll feel better soon!! I was able to take 4 Advil at a time, 3 times a day and that helped a lot.

It really does! But if it helps the swelling/tightness then I know it will be worth it. Had a much better nights sleep and woke up far less sore. Hopefully I'm over the worst of it now and it's all uphill from here!
Btw- you have no idea how much I appreciate you following my journey and commenting. It's so wonderful to speak to someone who's been there and got the t-shirt! Thank you x
