I had a truly great experience with Doctor Brichacek, Tracey, and his team, and I felt compelled to write this review, especially as a Black woman in Winnipeg.
Choosing a surgeon here can feel overwhelming because it’s such a small city, and as a woman of colour, there’s an extra layer of caution and consideration when making such an important decision. From the very beginning, I felt supported, listened to, and respected throughout my entire journey.
During my consultation, He was very honest and realistic with me. He initially mentioned that he might only be able to reduce my breast size by around 40–50%, depending on what he found during surgery. That honestly scared me a bit at first. However, I made sure to clearly re-express my expectations — that I wanted to go as small as safely possible while still maintaining a feminine shape. He took that seriously, agreed with my goals, and ultimately exceeded my expectations.
The surgery itself went smoothly, and the entire team made me feel comfortable and cared for. Post-op care was just as great. Tracy, the nurse, has been incredibly helpful, responsive, and kind whenever I had questions or concerns. I never felt dismissed, rushed, or ignored at any point.
One thing that really stood out to me as a Black woman is how well my scars have healed. Scar appearance was something I was very concerned about, and I’m honestly amazed at how minimal and barely visible they are. He did an excellent job minimizing scarring, and the results look amazing.
This surgery has been truly life-changing for me. I was very young to be carrying such a large breast size, and it affected me physically and mentally more than I realized at the time. While I was nervous going into it, I would encourage anyone considering this surgery not to be afraid — just be informed, ask questions, and be clear about your expectations. This team is very supportive and makes the entire process feel safe.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my experience or my results. If I were speaking to any other woman of colour, especially a Black woman who may have concerns about scarring or being understood, I would absolutely recommend checking this surgeon out. I felt seen, heard, and well taken care of from start to finish.
