Reduction and Lift to Fix Size and Asymmetry... My Life Has Been Changed!
I have always struggled with breast insecurity due to their size, shape, and extreme asymmetry. After being in an abusive relationship for 5 years, I had turned to food as an escape and quickly gained weight, a lot which went to my breasts. After finally escaping the relationship, I decided to lose the weight and regain some bodily autonomy. However, after losing 75 lbs, my breasts were saggy, deflated, extremely uneven and began causing me a great deal of distress based on their appearance as well as how they had been causing me some significant back and shoulder pain. I have not worn a swimsuit in years, nor had I had the confidence to wear tops that went below my clavicle. I tried to accept that this was my body now and somehow I would have to learn to put up with it, but made up my mind that someday I would get a breast reduction when I found the right provider.
I am so happy my partner suggested Dr. Richard Bensimon to me. The consultation came and I was extremely nervous, but the peaceful ambience of the clinic and the friendliness of the staff soon helped put me at ease. Being only 22, I have always maintained that I do not ever want children nor do I ever want to breastfeed. Since this surgery could affect those abilities, I was a little nervous that my decision to never breastfeed would not be taken seriously or respected due to my age and the stigma that someday I would change my mind. This was not the case at all! Dr. Bensimon completely respected my choice to pursue this surgery and that I had no desire to ever breastfeed which I found so reassuring. He clearly explained the process to me and drew some diagrams up showing how my asymmetry and gravitationally inclined breasts would would be operated on and lifted. He addressed most of my questions before I even had to ask them, and his dedication towards both health and aesthetic was palpable. I had been lightly smoking at the time and he told me upfront how I needed to quit as soon as possible, which I was able to do.
The cost was significantly higher than the average, however I have felt like every step of the process has been worth the extra money. The quality of care and attention to detail was so high and I felt like I was in amazing hands. I scheduled my OP for may, a few months after my consult.
The operation was my first time, and while I was very nervous, I was more excited than anything. My memories of that morning are a bit hazy, but I remember how every one of the staff members I interacted with helped me feel safe and comfortable.
When I woke up, I was barely in any pain due to the numbing solution he used during the surgery. A bit woozy from the anesthesia but coherent enough that when I first looked in the mirror I started to cry with joy. Never ever in my life expected to feel happy emotions in regards to my body, especially my breasts! The healing process was simple, I followed the loose diet plan of whole and hearty foods I had been sent home with. There was barely any leakage which was unexpected. The most discomfort I experienced the first few days was actually due to bloating and swelling; not the incisions themselves. And the most amazing thing: I have full sensation in my nipples and areolas! In fact, aside from some residual areas of slight numbness, I seem to have complete sensation everywhere!
During the first few days Dr. Bensimon and the clinic both called me to check in about my healing process which was fantastic. In my 1st and 2nd week in clinic follow ups, Dr. Bensimon was very happy for me when I told him how emotionally freeing this has been for me. I love the clinic's approach to holistic healing and while I had a pain medication prescription, I barely touched them other than a few of the first nights before bed to help me sleep as the pain did seem a little more intense at night.
All in all, this was one of the best experiences of my whole life. The higher price point is completely worth it as the level of care is extremely personal, the attention to detail and precision and aesthetic was clearly a priority, and the staff and clinic atmosphere were very pleasant. Dr. Bensimon is an incredibly talented surgeon and has absolutely changed my life and helped me regain a bit of self confidence and self love back that I didn't know I would ever experience again; I feel home in my body, I feel like I am getting a new chance to respect myself and have the confidence to show off my body a little more instead of hiding it all the time. I am overjoyed my wonderful partner suggested this clinic to me and has been very supportive of this whole process; the whole experience put us both at ease. I am so excited that my "new" breasts don't remind me of the difficult past I have in relation to how I treat my body or how I have been treated; rather I see them now and feel hopeful about myself and have already been standing and sitting up straighter.
