Life-changing Breast Asymmetry Procedure (Left: B/C Cup - Right:DD/E Cup)
WORTH IT
I approached Dr Banwell in Jan 2019 having suffered from extreme breast asymmetry since age 14. I had been to various consultations at other providers which I never felt sure about. In the first consultation with him, he was honest and transparent about the procedure and possible risks but supported me completely as he could see the affect my breast asymmetry had on my confidence. He asked me if I wanted to increase the size of the smaller breast (with an implant) or decrease the size of the larger breast, to which I immediately said "reduce the larger breast", avoiding the introduction of a foreign material in my body. He agreed that was the best option for me as my larger breast was sagging and caused me back pain, so I was booked in for a breast reduction on my right breast. Dr Banwell's office were extremely helpful in arranging my appointments and guiding me through every stage of the process, involving payment and pre-operative appointments. This was really refreshing to communicate with such a lovely office.
On surgery day I was visited individually by the team of doctors, nurses and the anaesthetist, which was a comforting start to the day. I was in theatre early that morning, and came around in the afternoon once all of the anaesthetic had worn off. From then the nursing team were excellent at provided me with all the help I needed around the clock, 24/7. The food I was served was very good too, breakfast lunch and dinner. I stayed the night and was discharged from the McIndoe Hospital the following afternoon, at this point feeling discomfort but no severe pain.
My post-op appointments were so easy and straightforward and no problems or complications arose with the tapes being removed (tape that covers the incision lines). The aftercare involves massaging and moisturising the incision lines twice daily from then on - my only issue arose here due to my sensitive skin E45 cream reacted very badly with it! This is my number one tip to anyone having this procedure do not use E45 afterwards, stick to very light creams. 2 weeks post-op I felt myself again just having to take it slow to let my body heal. 5 weeks post-op I went on holiday for 10 days and was absolutely fine, swimming in pools / the sea. 7/8 weeks post-op I was back at the gym introducing myself slowly back into my old routine.
I am 4 months post op currently, and I could not be happier with the results. my breasts before were my Left: B/C cup - my Right:DD/E cup and now I can almost certainly say they look practically identical. I suffered with mental health and confidence problems up until this surgery, struggling to ever go swimming in fear of my appearance in a swimming costume/bikini. Now I am so much more confident; I can actually wear normal bras and bras that actually fit me properly instead of stuffing the bigger cup to accommodate the bigger breast.
Overall, I can honestly say this was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my entire life and I will never look back. I am so thankful to Dr Banwell for not only creating this amazing result, but making me a happier and more confident person in myself. Instead of hating my breasts like I did for so many years, I now love them.
