WORTH IT
I am already on the other side as I write this!! Surgery was yesterday May 9th. I was a little nervous and busy to post before. I did manage to grab a few before shots yesterday though and my wonderful surgeon took a few mark up photos that I will see later. So 12lbs total removed and this included the lipo on the sides. This procedure was covered by OHIP :). I have NO pain and I am taking pain pills every 4hours but will wean to extra strength Tylenol today! First dressing change will be on the fifteenth and this is ideal to prevent infections the initial dressing is always the best dressing so try to avoid disrupting it! No shower as well till I see my surgeon just sponge bath again to lower infection risk. Thank you to Dr Rodger Shortt my amazing surgeon who not only is extremely skilled but also has a very warm , caring personality along with a sense of humour:) As well hank you to the wonderful team at Georgetown hospital it was a wonderful experience thanks to all of you ???? and of course thank you to my mom and brother my care givers :)

Congratulations! I’m glad you have no pain, but just wanted to say that I also had no pain in my boobs for almost 2 weeks. I was sore from the lipo on my side fat, but the boobs — nothing. Then around the 2 week mark to the 4 week mark was quite painful & swollen. I’m not saying that WILL happen — just be aware & rest a lot. It’s amazing how almost every move you make engages the chest. There were about 4-5 days where I just tried to not move much at all, because if I did - ouch!!! I’m almost at 11 weeks now & going braless, a little residual swelling, but very little discomfort any more. I wish you great healing!

I was thinking that might happen so hank you for confirming! Yes lipo is uncomfortable but breasts have been sort of numb with a few zingers lol. I’ll be ready just in case with the extra strength Tylenol !! So glad to hear you’re feeling much better now :) Happy healing to you as well and cheers to being braless I can’t wait to get this armour off

Hi! I live in Whitby and have been approved for surgery. However, my surgeon told me the lipo will not be covered by OHIP and will cost 1500 dollars. I have seen other posts from Ontario where the lipo was covered. I wonder why?

Mine was not covered (the lipo). I was told that OHIP doesn't consider the underarm part of the breast tissue (when clearly it is part of the breast). I paid $1000.

Correct Ontario does not cover additional cost vary from surgeon to surgeon but you will have a nicer result with lipo. Some ladies will end up going back for the lipo after to reduce side bulge. Factors such as weight, age and skin integrity may make it a necessity. Cost for my lipo $2000. As others have mentioned it is the most painful part of the reduction you will be bruised and sore but it is bearable and worth it

Relief!

Now just 48 hrs after surgery still no pain had switched to just Tylenol this morning, eating healthy and walking around. Making sure to do deep breathing and pumping feet up and down. The binding feels very secure and reminds me to limit movements but I am quite mobile considering just having surgery! Neck and shoulder pain still gone! So excited to be smaller. I won’t get a peek till the 15th though.

Glad to know you're feeling good. My surgery is on thursday and I couldn't stop thinking about pain today...

Girlllllll you are going to be fine! You are young and healthy and will sail through this. The pain meds work so well so just stay on them if you need to. The only reason I weaned off early is that I am a single mom that needs to be alert. The Tylenol works too but I did notice today 3rd day post op that the anaesthesia headache has kicked so if I need to I’ll just bump up to two Tylenol. Toast and lots of water fruit, veggies and lean protein. Make sure to pick up a “Grabber” teaching tool might be called something else? from dollar store or amazon it’s awesome for getting things off shelves or picking things up off floor :)

Slept 12hrs straight in my bed last night, my daughter created a tower of pillows. I also went without Tylenol for that long as well. Felt a little groggy and stiff with just a wee bit of nausea feeling but that passed when I took another Tylenol. Daughter made me a wonderful protein rich Mother’s Day breakfast and I as feeling great. Using a handheld shower head washed hair I set up shampoo, towel on a folding TV table, put a plastic recycling bag that I cut out head and arm holes in and was able to bend head and wash hair all on my own!! Feel great put on some makeup, made a coffee sat out in the beautiful sunshine and thought of all the special people in my life who have supported me through all this ....thank you ??????xo
