A Highly Personalized Experience

Having breast reduction surgery is a life-changing decision for anyone who chooses to do it. Choosing to trust your care to Dr. Laurie Casas is a game-changer. I don’t know of any doctor who spends more time educating and caring for their patients than Dr. Casas.
It is critical to understand that breast reduction is not just having a surgical procedure. The surgery is only one part of the process; the advance preparation and the aftercare are absolutely essential to your overall healing and the results you will achieve. Dr. Casas treats the whole body; not just the surgical zone. She is adamant about good nutrition and vitamin intake to ensure that your body will heal as quickly as possible. Equally important, she a licensed MLD (manual lymph drainage) therapist on site, Janina Sak, who will provide lymphatic massage, which is a vital element of the healing process
My surgery was on a Wednesday. I went home that same day and after a day of recovery at home, I went back to the office on Friday, and again on Saturday. While the office is closed on Saturday, Dr. Casas came in to personally double-check on my recovery. Even when she took a vacation out of the country a couple weeks later, she video chatted with me and Janina so that she could examine the healing and provide pinpoint instructions to Janina. I went every other day for the week following the surgery.
Dr. Casas’ attention to detail is unsurpassed; she is a perfectionist, making tiny adjustments that I never would have noticed. She takes every extra step to make sure the breasts heal well and look amazing. She utilizes drains that require careful maintenance on the patients’ end for a couple days. Unlike the drains many doctors use, these are tiny so they will leave almost no scar when the healing is complete.
All I really wanted was to just have the weight of my breasts off my neck and back. Now, a few weeks post-surgery, I’m not only thrilled to have the excess weight gone, but I’m really excited about setting the clock back on at least one part of my body.
If you’re properly invested in this process, you will spend a lot of time back and forth for office visits. I can’t encourage you enough to make that effort – it matters! You will get to know her always friendly and helpful staff; they understand that most people have plenty of other time commitments, and they are respectful of your time. Wait time is minimal to nothing, depending on the day, and they are extremely accommodating with respect to appointment times.
At each appointment, Dr. Casas will thoroughly examine you, strategize about tapings, evaluate various bra fittings/adjustments, and let you know what to expect in terms of healing and change for both the short and long term. The bra fitting process will continue weekly, until you stabilize. Even then, you will continue to change and she will monitor that as well. Dr. Casas has a strict protocol, but if you follow it, you’ll achieve the desired results. I’ve completed 4 weeks post op, and am excited to get to the next milestone – 6 weeks, when I can resume normal exercise and other activities!
