Consultation review - I didn't end up proceeding with surgery

I was recommended to consider breast reduction for back pain. I consulted with several doctors, both in and out of network. While most charged a consult fee, Dr. Rose charged nearly $1200 for a 20-minute conversation. My insurance managed to negotiate it down over several months and phone calls, but his office wasn't willing to negotiate.I ended up with a bill of $350 because of my insurance's help, still well above the standard for a brief consult, which also felt rushed as it was end of day and his family was in the waiting room apparently ready to leave. I didn't end up proceeding with surgery, so I can't comment on that, but I hope this information saves someone a huge unexpected bill and a lot of hassle in the future.
