Going AMAZING so far!

As this site/app has been extremely helpful to me I’m going to try to tell my story here and keep it updated as it goes along. I’ve wanted a breast reduction for years & years. I didn’t think it would be an option for me as I’ve had some pretty bad scarring in the past but I’ve been dealing with shoulder injuries on both sides for some time now & was told my chest size was making it worse, I had a history of neck and back pain and I was just plain tired of the clothing restrictions having big breasts puts on you. So I made a consult appointment with 4-5 plastic surgeons in the area to decide who would do my breast reduction. I was under no illusion that my breasts would come out with no scarring and that the scars would look pretty and told each surgeon so but was surprised to be told by several of them that they thought my scarring wasn’t a foregone conclusion. The places that I’d keloided were known for bad scarring so I might have a chance at good healing! Either way I was going through with it. I ended up choosing Dr. Nygaard for many reasons. My husband went to all the consults with me (except 1 but I ruled him out anyways) and he and I both liked the overall experience the most with Dr. Nygaard. We like that she takes insurance, she has a ton of experience with breast reductions (she’s done thousands), the consult appointment felt very personal (we met several people), they made sure we understood the surgery, answered any questions we had and showed us a whole binder of before and after photos (without having to be asked), during the consult the doctors herself first sat down with us in a more casual office (couch type) setting & answered tons of questions as well as walking us through the procedure and aftercare then she took us to an exam room, did a breast exam and showed me my different options, we then met with their scheduling person and their billing person. They were great about helping us jump through some weird hoops with insurance and were super understanding about my small timeline to get the surgery done (I only have a few months out of the year of downtime for my work) & assured me the rush was ok even though it was around the end of the year which I’m sure is a busy time for them. They went above and beyond for me. If I’d known ahead of time to not submit to insurance till I knew for sure which surgeon I was using that would have been great but at the time I didn’t so I just had the first surgeon I saw submit to insurance to “get the ball rolling to get approved”. When I saw Dr. Nygaard I had just gotten approval for my breast reduction (BUT for another surgeon) and it caused a whole bunch of issues because my insurance won’t just transfer the approval, the approval actually needs to get canceled and you have to start the process all over again. Don’t make that mistake, it slowed my final approval down. Just wait till you know which doctor you want to do your surgery before submitting to insurance! However, Dr. Nygaard’s staff were invaluable at getting this worked out with my insurance.
I had my surgery on the 1/15. I wanted to be a B cup. Originally Dr. Nygaard thought she could only safely get me to a C cup without doing a FNG but when she did the surgery she worked hard at it and she thinks when all is said and done & swelling has gone down I will most likely be a B cup! Regardless of what I end up being I am already super happy with the results! It’s such a huge difference! Her work is impeccable and both Dr. Nygaard and her staff have been so caring and thorough. I don’t have very much bruising (which I believe has been helped by the surgical regimen of arnica she gave me to take) and I’ve been told I’m healing really well! I was so much more comfortable with a woman doing this procedure and Iove that she is on the Eastside & I’m not taking a painful, long car ride to downtown Seattle. If your looking for a surgeon for your breast reduction I couldn’t recommend her more!
