45 years old, 34G/H, very happy with reduction

WORTH IT$10,000
I had my surgery on December 7 and wasn't sure what to expect as I'd never had surgery before. So far, the surgery and my recovery have been amazing. I feel very lucky to have not had any complications as of yet. I see my surgeon again on February 15 and expect his report to be a good one. I appreciate all of you ladies who have shared your stories and pictures as they helped me to educate myself before the surgery.

Like many, I've been large chested since I was a teenager, and it finally felt like the right time to put myself first and have the reduction at 45 years old. I was a 34G/H before surgery and I'm currently a D cup. If I recall correctly, the last time I was a D cup was probably my freshman year of high school. Nearly 4 pounds of tissue was removed from my chest - 819 grams from one side and 941 from the other.

I had trouble finding a surgeon who took insurance, but I am so happy to have found Dr. Heistein. He and his nurses have been great through the process, answering questions, helping to guide me, etc. If you are in the DFW area, I highly recommend him. My surgery took place at the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Southlake and everyone there was amazing, even at 5:30 am! They treated me like I was the only patient there that day and eased any nerves I had about going into surgery.

I'll add pictures to show my results. I don't regret not having the surgery sooner, but I am very happy that I've had it done and get to move forward with my new breasts!

Congrats on getting your surgery. They did a nice job. Can I ask do you know how many grams were taken out per breast? Have a kind day.
I just had mine done three weeks ago and the doctors will tell you what was taken out for each breast, weight wise.
Thanks! The removal was 819 grams from one side and 941 from the other. Almost 4 pounds in total.
I'm so happy for you and you look wonderful!! I'm scheduled in 2 months for my reduction & lift. I am currently your old size and hopefully will be a D cup when finished too. I am excited and scared at the same time. Any tips you can pass on to me would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for the compliment! I feel great, too! Tips - that's tough because your doctor may give you different instructions than mine did. But, have a couple sports bras on hand to wear - I was instructed to wear one all the time, except when showering (my favorite, ordered through Amazon, has been the YIANNA Women's Post-surgical Front Closure Sports bra With Wide Back support). Have some gauze on hand, too, as that was a nice barrier between the incisions and the bra. My doctor had me use gauze for two weeks to ensure things stayed dry. My mom laughed at picking up gauze that I'd unknowingly drop as I walked around the house. The first few nights I slept in the recliner of our couch as I didn't want to be on my back. Oh, take a soft bed pillow to put between you and the seat belt for the ride home after surgery. I used this for a couple days while I was the passenger. I feel very lucky that I didn't need many pain meds and I felt pretty good within hours of the surgery (stopped pain meds at about 36 hours). I hope you have the same!
Thanks! These were the tips I was looking for..

Congratulations on your results.  This is a great transformation for you and you look fantastic.   It always amazes me the amount of grams they are able to remove.

Thank you! I agree on being amazed by the amount of grams removed. Nearly 4 pounds!

Wow, what a wonderful change for you!

I am scheduled for surgery on March 26th with Dr. Heistein. I am super nervous to go under even though I have had Anesthesia before. I am a 34 e/f not exactly sure because I can’t ever find bras that fit! Did Dr. Heinstein give you a size that he would try to get you down to? He said he would try a c/d but couldn’t be sure until he was doing the surgery. Do they give you a surgical bra when going home? Thanks! I am so glad I found your review on here and that it’s fairely recent because I have been doing research but haven’t seen recent breast reductions
Hi there! I'm very excited for you! I'd only been under anesthesia for oral surgery back when I was a teenager, so I was a bit apprehensive, too. Dr. Heistein is great and he got me down to about where I thought he would. He felt going to a D for me would be too much tissue removal, so I'm at a DD/DDD, depending where I buy my bras. You will get a bra to wear home, plus gauze, but you're going to want to have a couple sports bras to alternate between for the first month. You'll take off the surgical one the day after and they recommend putting your own on at that point (with 4x4 gauze under your breasts, so get some of that, too.). I'll DM you some more info, so check those in just a bit.
Thanks so much for getting back to me! You look great!! ☺️
Please fill me in on all that happened Im hoping to schedule mine this week.
wow, do you currently work, how long were you told that you couldnt lift your arms above your head? And how was the pain.
Hi, Trina. I wasn't given any restrictions for lifting my arms above my head. I was just told that I couldn't carry anything heavier than a gallon of milk for the first two weeks. I had very little pain and was off of any painkillers, even over the counter, within 3 days. I took two weeks off of work, but really could have gone back after a few days as I have a desk job.
