Breast Reduction 32F to 32C

WORTH IT
I had my breast reduction just over 8 weeks ago and it is the best decision I have ever made.

Just to give a bit of background info...I am 30 years old, 5 foot 1 and was a 32f prior to my surgery. I also have two young children, aged 3 and 1 and they were both breastfed.

After researching for many months, I booked in to see Mr. Cavale at the Cadagon Clinic for a consultation. I did this directly through Real Plastic Surgery. I also booked in to see another surgeon on Harley Street who had a brilliant reputation.

Consultation-

Mr. Cavale examined me and explained what he was able to do. He was thorough in his explination of the procedure and was open and honest with the risks that come along with this and the chances of such things happening. He provided reassurance as to what steps could be taken if anything needed rectifying. I respected that he was realistic with everything. Most importantly, I felt that I was able to ask any questions I wanted and that I was being listened to. As I had done my research I had specific questions (although many had already been answered). Mr. Cavale was patient and took his time in answering. He did not try and sell anything to me. He was professional and had a lovely manner.

My day of surgery-

I was very nervous but all staff at the clinic were lovely. I got to the clinic at 7am and went to the ward to change into my gown. Surgery was scheduled for 8am. I first met with Dr. Hartopp who was my anesthetist. He was wonderful. If only all anaesthetists had the same professional manner! He was extremely caring and really helped to put me at ease. I explained how nervous I was but after meeting him, I felt a lot calmer and really did feel that I was in safe hands.

Mr. Cavale then came to see me and took measurements and made his markings of where everything was going to be. We discussed what size I would like to be. I trusted Mr. Cavale's judgement implicitly and knew he would ensure that my breasts looked natural and in proportion with the rest of my body.

I think the surgery maybe lasted about 3 hours. I remained at the clinic for a few hours more. There was a nurse who remained on the ward and was there if anyone needed anything. She was lovely and it was reassuring that you were being well looked after and not just left alone. Mr. Cavale came to see me and not long after, I was discharged with medication. I had paracetamol, ibuprofen and codine.

I made sure I took my medication routinely and set alarms on my phone so that I could control the pain as best as possible.

The next morning I took my bra off and got to look at my new boobs! It was the moment I had been waiting for and I couldn't believe they were mine. I was so happy. They were so small in comparison to what they had been and seeing the rest of my body without larger breasts was amazing. It was such a surreal moment. I finally looked in proportion. I had surgical tape over my scars and this was to remain until I went back to the clinic a week later.

Follow up appointment-

I went to the clinic for my scheduled follow up appointment the following week. I was seen by a lovely nurse who took off my tape and I saw the scars for the first time. I was nervous about this but was surprised at how good everything looked. My skin was slightly puckered but I was told that this was the norm and that this would settle as I healed. I had a little bit of yellow bruising on my right breast but nothing substantial. I was given surgical tape and scissors and informed that I would need to change the tape every 5-6 days until my next scheduled appointment with Mr. Cavale on the 18th of December.

Overall-

I have had no problems with my breasts or the healing process. There was minimal bruising, no bleeding and everything is so neat! I have sensation in my left nipple which came back after a week or so. I've still not got any in my right nipple but I really don't mind. My biggest fear was necrosis of the nipple so I'm happy to trade off lack of sensation for otherwise healthy nipples! I do know that sensation can take a while to return (if ever) so will have more of an idea in a few months. In terms of the pain, I can honestly say that this disappeared after the first few days. I am aware that everyone heals differently though.

I am now a 32C. As well as being able to buy lovely bras, I have had to buy new clothes as I am now mainly a size 6 in tops and dresses. Prior to this I was a size 10. It is amazing putting on clothes and them fitting as they were intended to. My back doesn't ache anymore and I have so much more confidence.

I could not be happier with my results and absolutely recommend Mr. Cavale if you are considering having a breast reduction. He is so talented at what he does. I truly believe that I have had such a good recovery because of how good a surgeon he is. This is a big surgery to have and you cannot afford for it to go wrong. However, if anything were to go wrong, you also need to know you have a surgeon who can, and will, rectify things.

I have to say how brilliant Mr. Cavale's secretary, Catherine has been. Throughout the whole process, she has been there to answer any questions I have had and has been there to give advice. She knew how nervous I was in the days prior to the surgery and was there to reassure me. She is a credit to Real Plastic Surgery.

From start to finish, I have felt like I have been in safe hands. Mr. Cavale is respectful and professional at all times. He has an extremely calming manner and that was definitely something I needed. I am so, so pleased I had him as my surgeon. Having a breast reduction has been truly life changing for me and I cannot thank Mr. Cavale enough for what he has done.
