25 year old needing a breast reduction!

Takingcareofmefirst
So I've finally gained the courage to start my breast reduction journey(yay!!) thanks to realself and the women who have gone through this procedure. Im 25 with 1 child and my breast have always been big and saggy for as long as I can remember, but pregnancy and breastfeeding has definitely made them worse. I've always experienced, back pain, neck pain, pinched nerves, bra strap indentations, rashes and the list goes on. After pregnancy everything took a turn for the worse, i cant stand or bend due to excruciating backpain. And everyone knows with a child it's a nightmare. I was finally referred to a plastic surgeon by my gp. And have a consultation on april 17!! Im really excited. I'm in Ontario and im praying Ohip will cover my reduction. if not im willing to pay out of pocket because its something i really need and will benefit from in the long run. Anyone here have their reduction covered by ohip? I have some questions! Will post pictures In a few days or so!!

The 17th will be here before you know it! I'm in New Brunswick and our Medicare is still covering necessary reductions, but I don't know anything about ohip though. Good luck with it!

Hi. I'm in Ontario and had my BR almost two months ago (Feb 17th). My reduction was covered by OHIP. I asked my family doctor for a referral in Jan 2016, saw the PS in August, was told I needed to lose weight, lost weight, saw PS again in October. My PS sent in the paperwork to OHIP with the affirmation that I was a great candidate and would be approved. I was told this would take 4-6 weeks. After six weeks I called my surgeon's office as I had heard nothing. No news. I continued to call weekly until someone found my paperwork. It had been misplaced. It was now mid January. I was approved and surgery was set. You can follow my journey on RS Vida my review.
Good luck with your consult! Keep us informed on RS.

Ugh, so last week Friday April 8th. I got a call from my family drs office saying my consultation was cancelled because the dr will no longer be performing breast reductions as of june 1st, 2017. I WAS and still am very upset about that...but thank god i didnt go and then find out that id have to restart the process all over again. I feel like my journey is really never going to begin. The bright side is that i did get an appointment to see another plastic surgeon but its not until june 29...its another long wait but i guess it could be worse. I spoke with my family dr and she apologized for having me waste time she also said she wouldn't be referring anyone of her patients to him anymore because he must have known that he would no longer be performing breast reductions. I did feel a little better that my dr was so conserned about what had happened. Itss rare you find a dr that truly cares and isn't in it just for the money. Well thats my update as of now im just awaiting june
