Breast Reconstruction Surgery with Double Mastectomy

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, I was overwhelmed with fear, grief, and uncertainty. Choosing the right surgeon for my double mastectomy and DIEP flap reconstruction was one of the most important—and emotional—decisions I’ve ever made. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Dr. Vial, Anna and the amazing staff at his office.
From the very first consultation that my husband and I had with Dr. Vial and Anna we were treated with compassion and respect. They took the time to explain every option available to us, both through Dr. Vials’ office or through other facilities. They encouraged and helped us explore every option available before committing to a procedure. They also explained every step of the surgical process in detail—the intricacies of the DIEP flap procedure and post operative recovery—without ever making us feel rushed or unheard. During the scheduling process my husband tragically passed away. I was devastated but still had to move forward with cancer treatment. Dr Vial and his office reached out and embraced me with so much support. It was clear that I was not just another case, but a person going through something deeply personal. Dr. Vials and his staff went above and beyond to accommodate the unique circumstances I was facing.
The surgery itself was a success beyond what I could have ever imagined. Dr. Vial combined incredible technical skill with an artist’s eye. The results are not only physically remarkable, but they’ve helped me feel whole again. The shape, and natural appearance post-reconstruction are a testament to his expertise. Dr. Vial’s careful planning and close follow-up made all the difference in my recovery. They were very dedicated to making sure I felt comfortable and safe in the recovery process so all I had to focus on was healing.
Beyond surgical talent, what makes Dr. Vial, Anna and the office staff truly exceptional is their humanity. They were there through every stage—answering questions, checking in on my recovery, and making sure I felt supported not just physically, but emotionally.
If you are facing surgery and trying to find someone you can trust with both your health and your sense of self, I cannot recommend Dr. Vial enough. He gave me back so much more than I expected—not just a reconstruction, but a renewed sense of confidence and healing.
