I was referred to Dr. Lisa Jewel at South Bay Plastic Surgeons for reconstruction after a mastectomy. The office is welcoming and the office staff is friendly, professional and helpful. I am always seen at my appointment time. Dr. Jewel is absolutely incredible. She took the time to understand where I was in my treatment process, and how cancer treatment affected my body and what reconstruction was available to me. I considered both DIEP Flap surgery and reconstruction using implants. She thoroughly explained what results I could expect. She understood my concerns regarding healing time and was sensitive to the fact that I am active, athletic, and that I surf. I felt completely seen and heard, and confident that her surgical options took into consideration who I am and what I still wanted to be able to do. I opted for the DIEP Flap surgery. I felt supported throughout the entire process; surgery, post-surgical appointments, and revision. And my breasts look amazing; even better than I expected. And I am surfing again. I heal well, but also attribute my excellent post-surgical results to Dr. Jewel's protocols regarding meds, scar treatment, surgical garments and clear and helpful instructions. I am so happy and grateful to have Dr. Jewel as my plastic surgeon. I highly recommend her, and love her staff as well. And again, my breasts look fantastic.
