My Breasts Look Better Than Before Breast Cancer:)
WORTH IT
I was referred to Dr. Zegula by my surgical oncologist after being diagnosed with breast cancer. I did what most people do and read all of the reviews—the good, the bad, and everything in between. Ultimately, I trusted my oncologist’s recommendation because she works with him frequently, and I am so grateful I did.
From our very first appointment, both my husband and I absolutely adored Dr. Zegula. We’re East Coasters, and we just immediately jived with him. He has a great sense of humor and is genuinely fun to be around, but he is also incredibly professional and takes his work—and the artistry involved in reconstruction—very seriously.
I had a double mastectomy, and honestly, the reconstruction Dr. Zegula did looks better than my breasts did before. I still have moments where I look at myself and think, How is this even possible? He is truly a magician, and I feel incredibly lucky that I ended up in his office.
I also had the opportunity to meet with Dr. O’Brien, also at Portland Plastic Surgery Group, to discuss some facial work while I was already going to be under for surgery. Since we were already doing fat grafting as part of my reconstruction, she was able to use some of that fat for my face as well, along with a chemical peel. Two weeks after surgery, I essentially had a full makeover—and the results were amazing. I absolutely love what she did.
I genuinely cannot recommend Dr. Zegula and Dr. O’Brien enough. They are both incredibly talented, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about what they do.
And I have to mention the staff and nurses at Portland Plastic Surgery Group, too. Everyone I’ve interacted with has been kind, supportive, and wonderful throughout the entire process.
This has been an incredibly trying year, and somehow this part of my experience has been incredibly uplifting. I’m so grateful for the care, talent, and humanity I found in this office. I truly couldn’t be happier with my results or more grateful to the people who helped get me here.
