I ended up getting very sick with symptoms of BII and I explanted on 28 June 2021. While I loved the implants and they way I looked, my health suffered greatly, gradually getting worse and worse. I became a depressed mess, isolating myself at home to take care of my symptoms which include hair loss, GI problems, breast pain, unexplained hives and skin issues, weight gain, memory loss, brain fog, anxiety, depression, cold and painful extremities, all with no answers from labs, specialists and primary care doctors. I’m on day 5 explant and am feeling uncomfortable from the bandages and drains but I’m content with my decision. I had grade 2 capsules and had an enbloc removal with a circumareolar mastopexy. I am looking forward to the 10 day mark when I can get the bandages and the drains taken out. I feel lighter and excited about the prospect of getting my life back.

The first issue that’s popped up so far...

I woke up yesterday with a red spot on my incision line and by the afternoon, it had opened and all kinds of yuck came out. It left a pin hole which I irrigated and put bacitracin in. I called my surgeons office and was told that it’s probably just a reaction to the suture (splitting stitch) I have made an appointment for next week so that the Dr can check on it. Meanwhile, I have been using echinacea to keep the wound happy. Many people do not know it but echinacea is amazing for wound healing. I make the tea, drink it and then use the tea bag containing the echinacea over the wound. I use the organic one by yogi. It’s not a substitute for medical care but in a pinch, it works very well. I uploaded the pictures showing today’s wound and then the not so good one just in case someone has a weak stomach. :)

The echinacea may be good. I’m not an M.D. but my only thought is if that teabag is drenched with water the wet moisture may cause irritation to the wound. Otherwise keeping the wound moist (but not wet) and covered is usually good for wound healing. Google “wounds covered or uncovered” for more details. Per my PS’s instructions I kept my wounds covered with nonstick dressings and Aquaphor Aquaphor (a non-antibiotic ointment). Good luck and please keep us posted.

Perhaps I should’ve explained that you don’t use a “drenched,” teabag for the process. The teabag is squeezed out and remains only slightly damp but not overly wet and you don’t leave it on for a long time. Also, the picture I put up was of a plastic bag covering it so that it didn’t get my shirt wet. I leave it on for about 15 mins and then remove it. I dressed it as the surgeon instructed using bacitracin. Update: the echinacea has drawn all of the junk out, to include an ingrown hair, so, YAY!

I have cleavage woooooo!!! I have been doing well since surgery. Trying to really eat properly, doing light cardio on the recumbent bike and walking. I should find out next week if I’m good to lift and do upper body again. My left breast is a lot different than my right in the way that it has a burning sensation around the whole outside of it. Almost like a sunburn feeling. I’m also getting the zaps in both sides but more in the left. I’m patiently waiting for that to subside but I’m doing well otherwise. Hope you all are having a wonderful journey XoXo

He’s the best in our state, so I was pretty happy to do this process with him as my surgeon.

Yes girl!!! Beautiful result. The zaps are good, it means your nervous system is healing and you'll regain feeling soon. Happy continued healing!
