Finally Decided to Have my Breasts “done” and I Couldn’t Be Happier!
General anesthesia/surgery terrifies me. If I die having breast augmentation, what will happen to my family… also, stupid way to die. For about 3 years, I’ve been seriously considering surgery. Having breastfed three babies, gained 50 lbs then lost 50 lbs (years later), I was no longer happy with my breasts. Having had naturally large breasts since the age of 12 & having a broad chest and shoulders, I wanted to keep large breasts but needed a lift. Now in my mid-40s, I was ready mentally, physically and financially. There’s only so much eating right and exercise can do for sagging skin. My consultation with Dr Rahban came after years of consideration and after contacting several other surgeons. All the well-known surgeons near me (northwest Florida) don’t close the incisions themselves completely. Having the surgeon close EVERY incision was my highest priority. Because I would have to travel to get just that one criteria met, I started searching across the US. A friend referred me to Dr Rahban after her highly successful “mommy makeover”. In researching, I found Dr Rahban’s podcast. His direct, honest approach impressed me. That prompted me to schedule a consultation with Dr Rahban… across the country. The consult went well. Dr Rahban was initially all business and this made me feel like I was already in good hands. He explained how/what/why before I even asked a question. It was excellent. After discussing my concerns, Dr Rahban advised a lift with implants would give me the best results.
After speaking with my husband (because his opinion matter to me), we agreed to schedule surgery. Surgery in Beverly Hills means a minimum 2 week stay for the procedures I had. My boys are all 14+ now so it was a bit easier to be gone for so long. My husband would be able to join me for the first week which, while request, wasn’t needed. *I highly recommend 24 hours of post of care from Calicia Care. Wonderful woman (sisters actually) owned company providing nursing services. The nurses were awesome. I digress.*
My surgery was scheduled for 9.6.2024. Nervous doesn’t begin to describe how I was feeling. Everyone has an opinion but I’m an open book. I didn’t want to disappear for weeks and surprise my family/friends. Throughout the process of getting my documents together and appropriate tests run, the lovely office staff at Dr Rahban’s office were helpful and pleasant. After my umpteenth email asking questions, they still provided the same exceptional level of service. The day prior to surgery, Dr Rahban saw me for pre-op. He greeted me warmly and put me at ease again with his vast knowledge and experience. My husband & I looked at pictures with Dr Rahban and decided on the appropriate size. To be clear, I’d provided 3 pictures (before & afters from Dr Rahban’s website) of what I thought was the perfect size for me. I was given specific instructions for the night before and the morning of surgery for bathing. We took another set of before pics & had a clear plan.
The morning of the 6th, my husband dropped me off and I was welcomed and brought directly into the pre-op exam room for prep. Dr Rahban measured and drew lines all over my chest. He explained that my breasts would look alike but my scars would be different underneath. Fine by me. After that, iv was place and I walked to the surgical room in my gown, booties and bonnet. The anesthesia worked too fast for any kind of countdown. Next thing I knew, I was in the hotel with my husband and nurse. Pain was negligible. Over the next 24 hours, I had minimal pain; mostly discomfort. Following instructions to rest was the most “painful” part of the experience as I’m always on the go. Little to no pain after 2 days. At my 2 week follow up, my beautiful new breasts were revealed. While still swollen and incisions still scabbed over, they were exactly what I’d imagined and hoped for. Size and shape are perfect. Another concern I had was nipple necrosis. I’m so happy to report, both nipples are healthy & look great.
All things considered; cost of surgery, travel, recovery, time away from family and home, I would do it again! Dr Rahban is an excellent surgeon with wonderful staff. My results are even better today, 4 months post op. The thin scars have already faded and the swelling is gone. I’m so happy with my results.
