The Best Thing I've Ever Done For Myself
WORTH IT
I had boobs, great boobs, that was the in the before two kids part of my life. I loved my boobs and never imagined they'd do exactly what boobs that nurse and pump for two giant babies do... deflate and need all the support of a miracle push up bra to take a shape I wasn't entirely embarrassed of in anything lower cut then a crew neck.
That made me sad, and as a mother of two, I continued to put me last and do everything for my kids. Just thinking about the time away from work/life for something that felt selfish because it was for me just never seemed right, but really, I don't know if anytime would have been right considering I always had some excuse for why "now" wouldn't work. I always talked about getting a lift and augmentation, and it wasn't until a friend got one that I decided it was time for me to just schedule a consultation.
The first and only consultation I ended up having I spoke with Mariah for over an hour, and after the amount of internet research I did, I walked away knowing even more then when I walked in, and felt so much confidence and reassurance from her that by the time I spoke with Dr. Jabs he was truly repeating what Mariah told me, leaving me with no real questions except when could I get on the schedule. Unfortunately due to my job the initial timeline for my surgery ended up being three weeks later then expected, but so worth the wait.
My husband drove me to my procedure appointment and before heading into the office he said "I'm really proud of you for finally doing something for you, I love you and am here to support you." (due to covid restrictions he could not come in and wait in the lobby) His words and knowing I was in great hands with the office staff and Dr. Jabs is more then I could dream of.
Upon check in I had Heather a nurse who would be in the procedure (I could be mistaken because honestly the morning of I was so nervous) and she was amazing! Talking me through the entire procedure, from the details of when my husband would be contacted to return to pick me up, to my medications, post op paperwork, and finally when Dr. Jabs would be in to start the markings, again I had no questions because she along with everyone else answered everything and left no questions to be asked.
Dr. Jabs, is not only extremely skilled at his craft but charming, an artist, or Boobie God if you will (loved the Instagram tag). He came in and started discussing what the procedure would entail (again the same as what was discussed at my initial consult) and then began marking what would be done, and talking the entire time through his markings describing what would happen along each line and what each mark was required for. Hearing Dr. Jabs talk through the purpose of the lines being drawn and measured on my body continued to reassure me I was in great hands; the level of transparency when someone has no issue discussing openly what measurement means what, and for the desired look you're going for, and the results that should be obtained, it almost felt too good to be true, but laying here a week later, I can say I am so thankful I ended up under his care.
From the moment I went under (such a friendly and kind anesthesiologist that I don't recall her name, but she was so kind!)to now I have been truly over the moon. Today was my one week follow up with Tiffany, and like the rest of the staff, she was extremely thorough, and went through step by step what my post care treatment would be. I was issued a band to help with the dropping of the implants into the pocket and massaging techniques that I would be doing daily for the next 3-4 months or until my desired look was achieved. I also picked up some scar treatment strips since I did have a lollipop lift and am hopeful to have minimal scars when it's all said and done months from now.
I don't think I've had this much confidence in myself in a while. Not because I'm not loved by my spouse or kids, or admired by others, but because for so long I allowed myself to believe that I'm a mom, and that doing this was taking away time from my kids. I needed to figure out how to love me enough to put me first, and I'm so glad I did. To the incredible Dr. Jabs and staff of Cosmetic Surgery Associates, thank you for helping this 31 year old mother of two young kids achieve the look she once had, but never dreamed of seeing again. I cannot wait to see what my end results end up being!
