I'm a returning client of Dr. Hedden's. So clearly, my husband and I trust him and his staff. I originally had a breast lift with implants in 2009. After overcoming many health issues, my poor boobs need a tune-up.

I'm getting excited, y'all! Since my husband can't come in due to the Covid-19 restrictions, I have my post-surgery bra, blood pressure medication, mask, and a book in a giant ziplock bag to take in with me for my 7:30 am call time tomorrow.
I went by Hedden's last week to do a skin test, since I react severely to some adhesives and tapes, and I'm so glad that I did. My arm reacted horribly to the Mastisol adhesive and the traditional surgical tape. We're talking hives, rash, boils, itching, burning-the whole nine yards. They called in a steroid pack for me and that helped the healing process begin overnight.
Dr. Hedden will remove excess breast tissue, lift my breasts, and place my original saline implants. I hadn't discovered RealSelf back in 2009 when I had my first procedure, so I don't have any of those pictures to share. My husband will be taking care of me and I'm looking forward to sharing my journey with anyone who comes across this review. Please comment any questions, suggestions, or support as you follow along with me!

I appreciate that so much! I’m up and getting ready now. I know it’ll be a process, but it’ll be so gratifying to get the girls back up, like you said.

How did you know wya size bra to purchase before the surgery? I'm having a hard time choosing...

I googled bra measuring and followed that process to ensure that my bad size was okay. I was told that it shouldn’t be too tight, but it should still offer support. I followed that with the cup, too. But keep in mind that I had an advantage in that I was going to reuse my original implants from my first surgery with Dr. Hedden.

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience, I have a question, why you don't change the implants because I have heard it's better to change implants each 10 years usually, thanks for reply

I’m glad to share, especially since reading on this site helped me so much. My ps said that it’s all about the integrity of the implants and that they can last for decades. We discussed possible replacement and agreed if my original implants were still sound that there was no need to replace them. They are under a lifetime warranty should they falter. I already knew that they were the size I wanted, so replacing them wouldn’t have served me any aesthetic purpose and would’ve just cost me additional money. I’m also a worrier, so I prefer saline because a problem would be immediately noticeable.

Thank you and good luck

Just an FYI, you can ask for your b&a photos from your PS. That's how I got mine. I never heard of a surgeon using previous implants to re-implant? Did he only do that bc you were a previous client? Did you have a backup plan in case those were unusable? I would think they would want to use a new implant esp with saline. I would of asked for pictures during sx to see that they weren't compromised as saline can have issues if they weren't properly sealed (2009 sx). Not trying to scare you but some ladies found mold, dust particles and white fuzz floating in them upon removal. Interesting. Glad you decided to share your journey with us. Looking good thus far in the healing process. 300 w/a lift looks great on you! Take care.

Thanks for your comment and suggestions. We discussed the different scenarios and agreed on what to do if my current implants were compromised.

Surgery Day!

I arrived at 7:30, completed paperwork and waited to be escorted in by a nurse. I went in just before 8 to do the nicotine urine test, get weighed, and take before pictures, then tried unsuccessfully to start my iv. Maybe 30 minutes later, I met with Dr. Hedden and we went over remaining goals and concerns as he marked me up, along with some small talk. About 25 minutes later anesthetist Kevin came in, went through his questions, and got my iv started.
When Kevin came to walk me back to the operating room, I saw that it was 9:28. I remember getting situated on the comfy operating table with arms out like a T and chatting with Kevin and the nurses, but the next thing I knew, I was in the recovery room with Nurse Stacy lol. My teeth were chattering and I sipped Gatorade while that wore off. She gave me pain meds in my iv at my request and we chatted while I dozed off and on and worked on my drink. Once I was consistently coherent and after she suggested that I snack on the crackers she offered when I got back to the hotel before taking my first pain pill, I was discharged into my husband’s care.
I felt some slight burning in my left breast, especially when I tried to breathe deeply, which was normal since I just had surgery. Didn’t feel a thing on the right. Pain Med and crackers did the trick. I’ve been sitting up, walking, dozing, hydrating, eating, chatting with hubby, breathing deeply, and watching tv.
My first post op appointment is in the morning. I can go anytime after 8 am. I feel pretty darn good and I’m glad to see that my boobs look tuned up-at least as much as I can see. Forgot to mention that I received a paste that hubby was instructed to put on my nipples with a q-tip. He did so at 9pm and will do again in the morning before my appointment. No shower yet, of course. Thanks a bunch to anyone who’s taking the time to traverse this journey with me!

What was the paste for? Never seen that on/in any review? Wonder if it was a creme to keep incision moist or from scabbing? Please share the dets on that. I e been reading for 3 yrs and haven't seen anyone post about aftercare like this. Did it help? Just wait you'll eventually not want your nipples to be touched. Mine felt like they went through a meat grinder.
