Hi Realself community! This site has helped me so much and I want to share with the community. I’ve had tuberous breasts, cup size 32A since early childhood and was finally in the right place in life to adjust that. My stats are 5.1”, 105 lbs, 33 years old, breastfed one child. I have an athletic lifestyle, actively pick up my 35lbs toddler and do intense exercise. My goal was to have a full C cup approximately, I love the rounder look with a full upper cleavage and expressed that I prefer roundness as opposed to a more natural looking result.
I ended up getting mentor smooth high profile extra 335 silicone in each breast, periareolar lift and implants over the muscle.
Let me tell you how incredibly grateful I am to Dr Taranow and his office team Beatrice and Cindy for all of the support and care I have received!
I have consulted overall 3 plastic surgeons and all of them had suggested a different approach to my case. 1st surgeon recommended a cut under the crease, no lift and an implant under the muscle. I felt that he wasn’t very sure of his technique as it was tough to ask questions. His office wasn’t very responsive and I disregarded them. The 3rd surgeon only gave me 15 minutes of virtual time and suggested a nipple lift with implant under the muscle. He seemed nice but I didn’t like that we haven’t had enough time to talk and his office staff felt polite, yet not as personable. Nothing wrong with that, I just didn’t love it.
The 2nd surgeon was Dr Taranow and immediately I felt that the doctor was very knowledgeable and confident in his ability, yet friendly enough to bond, calm your nerves, and understand what you are looking for. He had an assessment and clearly explained what he can do and why he had such reasoning. He explained how the tissue could behave if we choose periareolar vs under the breast cut, why over the muscle was a better fit for my anatomy, despite my concerns that typically I hear that under the muscle is better for a thinner patient. On top of that he said that if he ends up not having to perform the lift then he will refund the amount which is amazing to hear. It was not about the money itself because I wasn’t bargain shopping anyway, I wanted a top surgeon, but the integrity and the fact that the doctor doesn’t treat you like just another case. I felt that he would take care of my body in a careful way and not a cookie cutter cut with under the muscle just because I’m a thinner girl. I liked that he was thoughtful about scar appearance and what would look great aesthetically, after all I want it to be a sexy look and I wanted for my guy to not be reminded of my surgery at the first glance. We discussed size and thought approximately 300 cc for the proportion I wanted. We didn’t use sizers in the office and no images however I researched his Realself pictures and we looked though some of the photo books on his desk. I made rice sizers at home to give me an approximate idea and was happy with the range of 270-350.
His office team Beatrice and Cindy are so fantastic and I don’t say it lightly. From the first phone call they are welcoming, friendly. I had cell phone numbers for Dr Taranow and for Beatrice. I reached out to both of them on a weekend for urgent surgery related questions and not at any single point have I ever felt as a bother to anyone.
My surgery went very well, I had no pain afterwards!!! Just heavy pressure and swelling with light bruising. I ended up not having to take any pain medication, no nausea, and most importantly, moving around was fairly easy because I didn’t go under the muscle. I’ve been very emotional for about 4 days post surgery and felt very doubtful of the whole process, anesthesia was wearing off and I felt loopy and groggy. Definitely don’t advise to judge your results in that time or make any important decisions.
Day 5 I went back to see Dr Taranow for a post-op. It was so amazing that he saw me for every visit: pre-op, surgery, post-op and assured me that he will see me for future follow ups including removing the stitches. In many cases you don’t get to see the surgeon so often, you get a nurse and I just so appreciate how much thought and attention he provided me with. My breasts were still fairly swollen but they looked incredible, I will post pictures of all progress for you to judge for yourself. Finally, doctor brought me flowers and gave me instructions for the next visit. Just so thoughtful and attentive.
I also saw Beatrice and Cindy - just such amazing and warm people, provided me with some paperwork for my job and I was scheduled to return in a week.
Overall I felt that Dr Taranow had the skill, the artist vision for aesthetics I was trying to achieve. He had integrity, compassion and a true interest in what he was doing. I highly recommend a consultation with his office and encourage to bring all of your questions, preferences so that you can also guide your doctor towards what you would like.

Wanted to show picture of pre surgery: tuberous breasts, sagging after breastfeeding, size 32a. Post surgery pictures are from day 4 when I felt significantly better, the bruising and swelling was still showing. Incisions were made around the areola, the tape at the bottom is for support of the implant, no stitches were made at the bottom of the breast
