5'9, 155lb, 30D cup bra - 500cc, moderate profile, saline, anchor lift
ORIGINAL POST
Amazing Team
WORTH IT$7,870
I had a Mastopexy anchor with 500cc inplants saline on Sept 2nd. My review has notes than no one in this website has documented about their experience so will be putting it all in here. Some missing details about vinnings and the surgery but nothing bad! My surgery was about 3 hours long.
This is a good review. I'm writing 25 hours post opp. I'll start with the surgeon Dr. colgrove is not super personable and warm. He doesn't get in ure face and try to be buddy buddy. He is more like a sereous librarian type. But he is nice and quiet and made me feel comfortable with his skills. He is board certified! With hospital permissions. My consultation was in February and I was given a discounted price for breast lift and augmentation $7,870. I put 500 down in Febuary to secure my day and discounted pricing altho the paper said the special ran to May only. I called the office and they said they would honour it for september so far so good. I did need to drop surgery date down unexpectedly about a week and the office allowed me to do so. During my consult I sat with a nurse and she answered all my questions. Then Dr colgrove came in bent his head down looked over his glasses to make eye contact and said "I assumed you did all your reasearch" I nodded then he measured me then he asked if I had any questions. I had none so he gave me a handshake and left the room I didn't meet him again till day of surgery. I was fine with this short meeting. I had seen his work online and knew from the other reviews that me and him werent going to giggle and become BFF. That was fine with me because I had questions for the anesthesiologist. I have never has a real surgery before so I was terrified of being put under. But fully confident in the Dr.
My post op was with Robin she explained the implant and the size I chose 500cc moderate profile saline and how it was big but worked for my body. I am 5'9 and 155 pound with a 30D cup bra. My frame is small but long and most my weight is in my hips and butt. A 30D is like a 34b bra cup but not the band, just for some comparison.
My blood work was at quick labs in Marietta its located in an old strip mall second floor and looks shady. The inside is also bare bones. I went on a Tuesday for my blood work. Place was a ghost town. She took blood as well as pressed a small device that had a tiny blade in it to cut into my arm. It was the size of a grain of rice the cut. It stung a lil bit and waited for me to stop bleeding. She used the timer on her phone. It took about 7 minutes for my blood to clot. She said that was a decent time. And told me my veins were small and that they may have issues finding a vein the day of surgery for the catheter. She said the results would take two days to get back to the DR. I got the blood work in one week b4 my pre opp
At my pre op I signed alot of documents. During my consult I asked about BII and the nurse was like oh how that doesn't exist. But during my pre opp I had to sighn about 3 documents stating the risk and that some women have gotten sick from Breast implants but risk is low. So I didn't really like that part cause they originally told me it wasnt a thing. But I had already commited in my mind that I would get them no matter what. Everyone's body is different but it seems the sickness was coming from silicone and texture and PIP implants developed In France after I did alot of research. Robin told me to begin taking vitamin c and iron to help helping 10 days before. Due to my bad veins Robin told me 5 days before to begin overloading myself with water constantly so that I will be well hydrated and I did that.
I was given my prescriptions to bring to the pharmacy and over the counter items. I had to get colace stool softer baby asprin 81 mg hibbiclens to wash my body pre surgery, pain killer nausea meds and muscle relaxer. My insurance covered the non OTC items. Everything else came up to about 25 bucks.
3 days before surgery Robin called me and reminded me to keep drinking alot. She went over my meds and any questions that I had. I wanted to know if the dr fills the saline from like a sterile bucket or if he uses a closed saline system. She said it was sterile and came from the saline bag. That's what I wanted to hear that prevents bactirea in the air from getting into the saline and causing mold or floaters growing in the implant. I tried the sizes out again. Was terrified my husband wud say it was too big but he was ok with it. Thank God. Cause it would have been a fight. I want him to be happy but I also need to be happy.
My preoperative apt came with a really nice black binded booklet that had my name on it and very detailed instructions on what to do before and after surgery. The book had my surgery date and Robin hand wrote instructions. It was alot but I read over it every day for two weeks. So I can memorize what pill does what and come up with plans to remember to take each pill. U cannot mix the muscle relaxer with the oxy because ure breathing will slow down.
The week leading up to surgery I ate light and stopped exercising so that my body wasn't in recovery mode from the gym. I didn't eat dairy or gluten or carbs from unnatural sources. Two days before the surgery I increased my carb consumption by adding in some white rice.
The day before I recived a call from Marshay the anesthesiologist. He asked me health questions and we went over questions that I had. He is a retired army nurse who did anestesia on the battle field as well as In the ER I belive he is retired now and has his own anestesia company. I googled him Jenkins Marshay wile we were on the phone talking. He has over 22 years experience and there are news articles about him because he is a leader in his feild so u can google that. He and the articles Put my mind at ease.
So next day day of surgery I arrive at 6am. They didn't give me a pregnancy test or anything. (Some drs do) but the pregnancy test was done during my blood work. She Just took my blood pressure and temp. I then changed into their thong booties hair net and gown. I locked my stuff up in the bathroom locker wich was hard to close. Then we took pictures front and side way facing. Robin was my nurse. She after bought me into the recovery room and had me sit on the gurney. My husband was in the room with me. Marshay came in and introduced himself to us both and began to talk to me about what he was about to do. I wanted to know if I would wake up in pain. He said no the narcotics he is going to give me will keep working even after the surgery. He assured ny husband he would be watching my vitals and that he would never leave the room. Then... he told me I would have to have a URINARY CATHETER and I was like whatttt u guys didn't tell me that. And Marshay was like yea Robin will be putting that in for you. I had already commited but wish I had gotten a heads up to mentally prepare. It takes him only one stick to find my vein and I see blood coming from the tube wich let me know he found the vein. He hooked me up to a saline bag. And gave me and gave my husband another handshake and then he told me he would see me inside the or. I was like wow am I really about to do this..
Next Dr.Colgrove enters and says hello to everyone and walks over to me ask me how I'm doing. He has me stand and open my gown then begins to do ALOT ALOT of blue markings on my chest. Even asking me to hold up my lil droop drops so he can draw underneath. He looked over the symetry on my chest. He told me my ribs were popping out on top and that he would try his best to make my breast sisters but they may not be twins. He said 500 may fit but he wasn't sure until he got into the muscle dicection. He told me my areolas would be a bit smaller than they are now and perfectly round. I have a tattoo on my breast and he told me I would loose some. And I was ok with that because I wanted it removed anyway. Dr colgrove told me he would see me inside and said good by to my husband. After Robin walked out the room with us. She pointed my husband down the hallway back to the waiting room and I gave him one last kiss. Then me and Robin walked back to the photo room and took another pic of all the lines. Then we went to the OR. There was a long bed she helped me crawl under the sheets wile holding g up my iv. The bed was heated. Marchay helped her cover me up. Then she began to tell me about the machine she was putting on my legs to massage them wile I sleept. And marshay put the oxygen mask over my face.
Next minute I am in the recovery room with Rachel and she is sitting in a chair. There is a little gingerale next to me with a staw. And she ask how I'm feeling and lifts the gingerale up so I can have a sip. I was disoriented but aware of what was going on. I did not feel much pressure on my chest I did feel like not sore... not in pain. But like something had happened that I could not feel. I Had two drains and an ace bandage wrapped on me. I did not throw up, but Marshay said he was going to put something in my iv for that before the surgery. After a few minutes she asked me if I wanted to see my husband. She went to get him and then I think after he saw me she went to show him were to park in the back to pick me up. Im not 100% sure the turn of events I was just so out of it. Rachel helped get me dressed. I had originally wore a onsie I got from walmart with a Long zipper in front. But I also bought a backup of just a robe and shorts. We went with the backup and she helped me get into the shorts wile my husband helped hold me up. I could barely stand. And I was so wobbly. That's when I began to feel pressure wile attempting to use my arms. They wheelchaired me out to the car and Rachel helped me into the car and fixed my seat belt so it wasn't on my beast. I knocked out again until I got home.
My surgery was about 7am- 10am. Got home by 11.30 I live in lawrenceville GA. When I got home I had to walk up two fights of steps. Getting out of the car was hard my husband had to lift me out. He stood behind me helping me up each step. I was so dizzy. He helped me pull my pants down to pee. My arms were getting more weak by the moment and I was starting to feel things all over. Once in bed he tried to give me both a nausea medicine and a pain med. But I got freaked out and thought he was giving me the pain pill with the muscle relaxer. I fell asleep and I woke up In excruciating pain from not taking that oxy. I quickly took it and had a yogurt
It kicked in immediately thank God. The pain was just like someone was pressing a hott iron down on my chest. Alot of pressure.
I'm on day two using my phone timer for my meds. I didnt get a call the night of surgery like others had written. That's cause my phone is off maybe. I had given them my husbands number so who knows what happened maybe they still had my number saved down. But im good and don't need any thing from the surgery center.
My post opp is on Tuesday 11am. I'm hoping for these drains out. But so far so good. Getting out of bed is hard cause u need ure chest muscles to lift u up and pulling things up and or down and opening ure pill bottles is hard. Pressing down is impossible so make sure all ure pills are open for u to have easy access. I had soup for the first day today I had solid food and so far so good. I am in pain in general and I do get out of breath occasionally. But my breast feel like they are mine. And it's only been about 24 hours. I don't feel the implants. I choose saline for safety in case of a rupture. I was not going to pay for a mammogram every 3 years. The fact silicone was recalled for many years before it was re approved in 2006 is really scary so silicone was a hard no for me. I had enough breast tissue to pull off the saline. Silicone is about 1,000 more.
As for the saline: 500cc under muscle was able to fit. When I poke my breast they feel a bit firm but soft. They are swollen. I'm excited to get to my appointment maybe get these drains out. I got surgery on Friday, Monday is labor day so they are closed that day. So my appt is on Tuesday.
Ok so what they don't tell you:
Urinary catheter during surgery, I think that was because I had the lift and my surgery was 3 hours +
For two weeks u must wear the compression socks
Back of my throat has a big bruise from the air tube. Other side of my mouth has a big cut maybe from the thing that sucks ure spit out to keep it from going down ure throat. Tjere is like a dent there in my cheek an open bloody wound. I had tape on my face when I woke up. The beatadine is hard to take off your skin u will need rubbing alcohol to get that and the marker off. My throat is a bit raspy from the tube. U still can feel pain thru the pain killer but that's when u move alot. So that's why they tell u to get rest.
I like the idea of drains because so much fluid has come out of me already. Day one it was 50cc of blood on each side now its getting light see through rose color so means it is getting better. I see a few clots in my drains here and there. I could not imagine my body having to absorb all this liquid and blood wile healing. I think the drains make the healing process better. It prevents saromas from forming pockets of blood around ure implant leading to capular contracture or a capsul filled with blood.
I did hear a weird gurgling sound in my breast at one point then saw blood begin to move thru the drain. That was weird.
Overall great experience with Dr. Colgrove. Highly recomend for boobies. I had a few consultations were the surgeon was using the hospital to do the surgery. So they would charge me like 7,000 for the lift and the implants but then additional 500 fee for the hospital fee and 1,500 for anestesia for hour and a half. But my surgery really needed 3 hours cause my nipples needed to be moved up and that takes time and delicacy. So I was getting some wild pricing quotes from other places. Dr. Colgrove has his own OR so there is no rush because your not renting out a hospital space and paying some random anesthesiologist to put u to sleep. The team was great and Dr colgroves price was amazing for the care I recived and what was included. Another surgeon told me he cud do it in an hour and a half and if he needed more time he would just slip the anesthesiologist some more money and that not to worry about it. I was like what.... so I went with Dr. Colgrove his team is amazing. Follow the instructions and eat healthy diet and be mindful of what u are eating in general. And have a healthy BMI.
AVOID SALT the week of ure surgery and u will not be bloated when they give u the saline iv.
I did not get the mesh that Dr. Colgrove offered me. None of the other surgeons that I had consults with said they would use it in My case so that was my take away. They all said I had good skin. And that they would not offer me the mesh, unless this was my second augmentation. I thought it was unnecessary at the moment to add a third procedure to my surgery and increase the possibility of infection and pain. I hurd the healing is hard and painful and that it has not been on the Market for that long. I didnt want another foreign object in my body along with the implants so I opted out of the mesh. And they didn't try to persuade me to get it or change my mind either and I liked that. This entire process I made my own decisions.
Plastic surgery is strange. U meet the surgeon two times if maybe before the surgery and then u pay them out of pocket to cut u up. I only saw the dr. 2x and I was like ok let's do this. When u think about it for a wile it seems crazy but. He is board certified he's even on the website that links to the official ideal implants talking about the implant. And he has been doing plastic surgery from before I was born. So he checked all the markers for me.
I will post more images as I heal surgery was 9/2/22

Day 3 took a bird bath with the hibiclens
Still using the hibiclens to clean my body because why not, lets kill any random bactirea crawling on me. Incisions were not bloody, the pads put inside my bra to absorb blood are dry. So far very happy. I made sure not to wet my breast or sutures. Implants riding up high on my chest. I am in alot of discomfort from under my incisions like my abbs area hurts and the side boob hurts. I occasionally hear a gurgling nose coming from one implant if I do a chicken wing movement with my left arm. But overall I'm good. Pain killer makes me sleep through the day. Im worried I don't have enough pain killers for the tomorow until my appt on Tuesday.

Got cleaned up and patched up again with the surgical strips. Can we take a moment to admire Dr. Colgroves work. I am stitched up so beautifully and neat. My scar will probally be a thin line that I can get rid of with silliczone straps. I have not bleed since the first day no discharge from wounds and anti biotic is working out good. I have to come into the office once a week to change out the strips. My drains will come out on Friday. I am being placed on a new anti biotic and given more pain meds. I have a long way to go to heal and D&F. I haven't had a BM since before my surgery nurse advised me to work on that
