I've been researching getting a breast augmentation since a little after my son was born due to them deflating after breastfeeding and 50lb weight loss. I finally had my consultation last week and my dr recommended 485cc and 520cc high profile gummy bear implants to fix some asymmetry and a donut lift. Surgery is scheduled for March 12th and I am so excited it finally happening!

Have you seen any reviews of other women who have had donut lifts with large implants? Donut lifts only provide a little bit a lift, it's nothing compared to a vertical or anchor lift. Also, if the doctor tries to do a LOT of lifting with the donut lift and/or you're getting big implants (anything over like 325cc), there's a pretty high chance that the sutures on the donut lift will NOT be able to support the tension of the breast expanding to accommodate the implant. What happens in this instance is that it pulls on the areaola (since it's the only spot that has sutures) and causes them to spread out a LOT. Or you end up with very noticeable starburst-patterned scars around your areolas, which is the exact opposite of what most women want when they opt for a donut lift. A lot of doctors won't even perform donut lifts because of these complications. I really hope you think about this and do some more research because it makes me so sad when doctor's don't bring this up and women post reviews here on Real-Self talking about how much they HATE their breasts after getting a donut lift with implants. I really recommend a vertical lift to get the results you're looking for and to not have to worry about the other complications with donut lifts. Also, you should post some wish pics!

My doctor and I have discussed my desired results, the types of lifts, and realistic expectations of each in great detail prior to making this decision. I am getting an areola reduction at the same time, which I forgot to include in my initial post, so I am confident she will give me results I am happy with. Thanks for your concern :)

Now we wait

Just a small update on my process! I got surgical clearance by my PCP last week and had my pre-op appointment this morning. My PS required I get cleared no more than 30 days before surgery so I’m glad that done and out of the way now. I received all of my pre/post surgery directions and information long with my prescriptions for medication. Surgery has also been paid for so now I just have to try to be patient and wait for the big day!

I am going to try to update everyone on my surgery and recovery journey with photos as much as possible. I find the detailed reviews on here so helpful so I want to do the same in case it helps someone else!
