First shower since surgery
I had my first shower today. When I got ready to get in the shower I had some clear liquid dripping out of the incisions on one side. I called the nurse, she said it’s normal. So I took a shower and it felt wonderful. It did burn a little after. I figure I probably got a little soap on it. Not bad though. I got my first look and I’m happy. They’re definitely smaller, but that was expected. They are now where they should be.
3 days post op
I’m 3 days post op and feeling pretty good. The pain isn’t bad at all now. Still feel tired, but better every day. My 2nd night after surgery was the worst. I got sick to my stomach about 11 that night and couldn’t hold anything down all night. Every time I got up, tried to drink, or take medicine I threw it up. I called my dr the next morning (I felt bad because it was a Sunday) and he called in some melt away and suppository nausea medicine. I can’t say enough about Dr. Newman, he has bee great! Anyway, I only had to use the melt always (thank God!) and that did the trick. I was able to eat and hold down some pain medicine. I haven’t taken the hydro since the night I got sick. I’m taking ketorolac, it’s supposed to be similar to a strong ibuprofen. It’s working good. So far this morning I haven’t taken anything since last night when I went to sleep. After the first couple days the pain is surprisingly not bad. I’m going to wash my hair today and I can’t wait! Ugh
1 day post op
I finally did it! I had surgery yesterday. I had to be at the hospital at 5:30. Surgery was at 7:30. I woke up in recovery about 10:30. Everything went great. I had a lift with no implants. I was hurting quit a bit when I woke up. But the nurse gave some medicine in the iv and I took a hydrocodone that the dr had prescribed and I felt good. The ride home was 2 hrs from the hospital. I slept most of the way. The pain is not to bad as long as I take the pain medicine and don’t use my chest muscles. I’m thinking my abs and legs should be much stronger after this. :) I have a lot swelling this morning; of course in my chest and on my sides under my arms. I think the burning feeling is worse today. They also feel really really tight. I got sick to my stomach last night after I changed the bandages. I took some promethazine and got in the recliner and slept for a few hrs. I’m dreading changing the bandages today..ugh.
My recliner along with my neck pillow helps me sleep pretty comfortable. I’m supposed to go back to work in 3 days. I hope things progress quickly.
