Saline Implants - 600cc Saline to 1100cc Saline - Submuscular Placement

In December 2004, I had my first breast augmentation (BA) procedure during which I had 600cc saline implants placed under the muscle. I wanted implants so that I looked more 'in-proportion' and being a larger frame (5'6", 190 lbs., nice behind/hips/legs), 600cc was the perfect size for me. I had no issues with my implants and the outcome was aesthetically pleasing to myself and others. Fast-forward 12-13 years, I noticed less volume on my right side. Of course this would appear just as I was going through my divorce, empty-nest syndrome, a cross-country move and other issues, aka a "when it rains, it pours" situation. At times I would experience a sharp pain on my right side and I knew it was the implant; it was as if I could feel the implant turning in my breast. Mammogram confirmed what I had known; my implant had ruptured and I knew I needed to get it removed. But I put "me" off and continued on living the best life that I could, with a noticeable difference between my left and right breast. Almost 17 years after my original BA, I scheduled my revision surgery. I was immediately comfortable with my plastic surgeon and his staff. My initial embarrassment from waiting so long immediately washed away after my consultation with him. Despite advancements in implants, I still opted for saline because I wanted to go larger than before. I am about 20 lbs. heavier than I was in 2004, but still generally the same shape. My surgery was performed under general anesthesia in a surgical room in his office. My old implants were switched out and replaced with 800cc Mentor saline implants overfilled to 1100cc, under the breast. My left implant was still 600cc; my right implant was completely empty and folded like a napkin. Minimal scarring was present. He praised the work of my previous plastic surgeon. My chest pockets were still in good condition, with the exception of the right pocket being a little smaller. I am sitting here, 7 days post-op, and I have minor bruising. The right implant looks a little higher but that is to be expected. I am just waiting for that magical day when my breasts "fluff". This surgery went smooth, pain minimal, all -in-all a great experience.
