Regrets - very disappointed with the service I received
Regrets
I got a breast augmentation in 2016 with Dr.Islur at First Glance. The service at that time was great. I have since had to go back as I have a capsular contracture with one of my implants. I was very disappointed with the service I received. When I had decided that I was going to go with the option that was covered by Mentor and the public health care system (as capsular contractures are covered), I had requested to get a sizing appointment as I wanted to change implant size. They originally booked me for an appointment just to call me the day before stating I had to book with a clinic at St.Boniface. I called the number they gave me just to have the lady at St.B tell me Dr.Islur no longer works in their office. I called First Glance back, and they gave me an e-mail to contact for a sizing appointment, just to call me back before I even had a chance to send an e-mail stating that because I already have implants in they cannot help me with sizing.
I clarified and asked if I should just ask for a different size, without knowing what it would potentially look like on my body and just hope for the best after surgery...to which the lady on the phone replied "yes".
Other things of note that were disappointing: I had discussed a surgery timeline at my consultation, to which he told me my surgery could be done in April (as I am moving out of the country). On the phone, while they were telling me about the sizing appointment issue, they stated it might not be 1-2 years before having the surgery. As a nurse, I can understand the complications that COVID is putting on our health system, but I wish he would have taken that into consideration before telling me that April 2022 was a possibility.
I then did a 'Recommendations Poll' on my instagram for other plastic surgeons in the city without mentioning that I had went to Dr.Islur. Shortly after posting this I got a DM on Instagram from Dr.Islur which I found passive aggressive, in which he asked if I would like to be taken off his waitlist. Based on the other negative experiences from women about First Glance I received from posting the recommendation on Instagram, I said that he could take me off his waitlist.
I feel and others who have opened up to me have also shared their feelings that once they have your initial payment and money, minimal effort is there to keep the client happy and help with follow up/revision surgery/etc.
I really wish I would have shopped around more before choosing this establishment. Please do your research, ask real people about their experiences and take your time in making decisions about surgery!
Best of luck, and I hope others have more positive experience!
