The Best Plastic Surgeon--and I Should Know
WORTH IT$6,000
Dr. Luong was last in the long line of plastic surgeons w/whom I consulted for a complicated breast implant revision followed by an explantation. My original surgery (poorly done by Dr. Gervais) resulted in endless complications (to which Gervais shrugged and informed me that "some women get good results, and some don't"). After his office ghosted me, I moved on to another plastic surgeon, who attempted to address my concerns but w/whom I ultimately explanted. I was at that point looking for an end to my saga and relief from the animation distortion triggered by my every move. Unfortunately, my distortion didn't resolve post-explant. After healing for a few years, I wanted to find out if placing very small implants over the muscle would stop the distortion once and for all. For this purpose, I consulted with nearly every plastic surgeon in the metro area and two (virtually) on the East and West Coast. What I learned is that many/most plastic surgeons are egomaniacs who earnestly believe that if they can't provide a solution, then a solution isn't possible to provide. Only one other surgeon believed that she would be able to place small implants over the muscle on my thin frame, and none of the surgeons believed that doing so would provide a solution to distortion (despite much clinical research attesting to the contrary).
I only met with Dr. Luong as part of my due diligence--I wanted to know that there really wasn't a solution before I gave up. What a surprise to leave her office feeling actual hope. First, she has a different personality from other surgeons: steady, down-to-earth, realistic. She's not sales-y, so she won't spend time persuading and promise-making. Second, she didn't seem to be perplexed that I was bothered that my breast tissue jerked around every time I moved my arms. She approached my complaint as a legitimate problem with a potential solution. Third, she was unfazed by my desire to place the implants above the muscle and didn't believe that implants would look "stuck-on," or "ugly" (in the words of Gervais), or "like a hockey puck" (in the words of an unlicensed Wayzata surgeon). Apparently unlike the docs w/whom I consulted, she has experience placing implants over the muscle on a variety of body shapes and felt it would provide a solution to my distortion (which she--alone among doctors--pointed out was due to tissue adhesions and not to damaged pectoral muscles).
Long story long, I scheduled my procedure to take place far in advance. I sweated every day leading up to it, unsure if I'd follow through. I'm very glad I did. Dr. Luong succeeded in placing very small implants subfascially in a quick procedure, which was followed by a quick and easy recovery. My implants look and feel completely normal--not stuck on at all. Much more importantly, my animation distortion is finally, finally (finally) resolved.
I could hardly feel more grateful to Dr. Luong for her expertise (and her patience). But I also want to point out to potential clients that her prices are reasonable, too. Several doctors who didn't understand my problem, didn't care about my problem, or didn't have the expertise to confidently solve my problem nonetheless gave me estimates for potential fixes that exceeded Dr. Luong's prices by more than 110%.
All in all, I highly recommend her services (and feel more qualified than most in my recommendation).
