Implant Revision: Saline to Silicone

For many years my breasts were majestic, but (possible) capsular contracture, pregnancy, and gravity have taken their toll. So I’m preparing to replace my 15 year old saline implants with cohesive gel silicone. I’m 5’6”, about 115lbs with 420cc implants. Almost no natural breast tissue. My goals for the upcoming surgery: symmetry, nipples centered at the fullest point of the breast, slight increase in size, decrease in rippling.

After going on 6 consultations I was surprised to find such a variety of diagnoses and recommendations. 4 doctors diagnosed capsular contracture; 2 think it’s implant malposition. There were various ideas about whether a lift and/or mesh may be necessary.

I finally selected Dr Bradley Hubbard in Dallas. I’m scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks and look forward to leaving a more thorough review for Dr Hubbard and his team. So far they have exceeded my expectations in every way. More to come and updated photos soon...

Updated to add a before photo of rippling in the cleavage. This is one of the issues that I hope will be corrected by switching to a silicone implant.

Ask about Mentors Xtra , on market since 2017. I switched from saline to silicone, but the Xtra was unreal. No ripples , great upper pole, and much more form stable. Good luck

Do the Soft Touch ripple less, and still feel soft enough? Are you under muscle too?

The "soft touch" are a medium viscosity gel. (The "responsive" are liquidy type silicone; the "cohesive" are the most dense.) I like the Soft Touch and they feel WAY more natural than my old saline implants! I recently posted a question about the rippling issue and it seems like the consensus is that the ripples are more related to my lack of natural tissue rather than the Soft Touch. I think in the future I might consider a more cohesive implant though.

I’m doing surprisingly well! Chest is sore, but not unbearable. I took a hydrocodone this morning just to stay on top of the pain, but I might try switching to extra strength Tylenol this afternoon. *Just FYI, I always get nauseous after anesthesia, but not this time! At my pre-op they gave me a pill (called Emend? Amend?) to help prevent nausea and it worked like a charm!*
