28 Year Old Silicone Implants Leaking - Breast Revision by Dr. Messa
This post is a note of gratitude to Dr. Charles Messa, III, located in Weston, Florida who removed my 28-year-old ruptured silicone implants and gave me a beautiful breast revision.
Although I am extremely thrilled at my new breasts, this post is focused less on the subject of aesthetics, and more on the joy of restored good health. I cannot emphasize enough my gratitude to Dr. Charles Messa, III Board Certified Florida Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon and his entire staff for their caring nature and concern for my well-being. Dr. Messa literally saved my life!
Three years ago I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Up until that point, I was very healthy, very active and exercised every day. I have no family history of RA, an autoimmune disease. RA is a horrible debilitating disease; I tried everything from homeopathic to biologic drugs, it got to the point I did not care what I took if the RA was under control.
In the summer of 2016, I had a bad fall and landed on my chest which lead me to have a breast sonogram and then a contrast, no contrast MRI which confirmed both breasts were ruptured and one breast had silicon leaking into my right underarm, close to my lymph gland. The Radiologist told me that the breasts had been ruptured and leaking for a quite some time. I was not aware Mammograms do not detect ruptured implants. I soon suspected the leaking silicone may be the culprit for my Rheumatoid Arthritis. My physicians’ told me I had to have the silicon removed immediately and they along with several friends recommended Dr. Charles Messa, III in Weston, Florida.
From the moment my husband and I had our consult with Dr. Messa we both felt unequivocally he was the best Doctor with his years of experience, expertise and knowledge to perform my breast revision. Due to the problematic nature of my situation, his Surgical Coordinator and entire staff were superb addressing my needs. Remarkably, Dr. Messa was able to remove all of the leaked silicone.
It has been almost six months and my rheumatologist tells me that my lab work shows no signs of inflammation, I have been pain free and I have not had to take arthritis medicine for seven months. On top of being grateful every day for having my health again, I am also thankful for having beautiful breasts compliments of Dr. Messa’s expertise.
