I had breast implants placed 20 years ago after my second child. My breasts were sadly deflated, I went to my previous surgeon and requested a breast lift, I had never considered augmentation. The surgeon felt I would be unhappy with the scarring at 35 years and and recommended subglandular implants to improve the appearance of my breasts with minimal scarring. I went through with the procedure, it went well and my breasts looked pretty good, I had no complaints. I was fortunate to never experience and health issues related to the surgery or implants. I had saline implants and there was a little rippling but it wasn’t obvious. I was never completely comfortable with the implants, they were large for my 100 pound frame.
Post menopause my breasts became more saggy, hot, heavy and uncomfortable. I did some research and realized breast lift scars aren’t really too bad and many women look great after the surgery. I decided to proceed with removal and breast lift. I am pleased with my choice of Dr Karen Horton for my surgeon, she understood my goals and never tried to steer me into replacing the implants or upsell me on other procedures. She set realistic expectations and achieved them. She did run way behind a couple of appointments but she does run a solo practice and I’m sure urgent situations do arise. Her staff is awesome and all female which was well appreciated due to the intimate nature of breast surgery. Mari was super accommodating and scheduled my surgery the day the Winter Olympics started because I told her I loved to watch them, made for good tv during my time off work. Nurse Mari was informative, reassuring and helpful (and funny) with pre and post op procedures.
My surgery went well, it was done under general at a local hospital in outpatient surgery unit, my surgery was 7:30 am and I was home before noon. I only required pain meds for a day or two post surgery. Way more important than the pain medication was the anti anxiety meds, she provided a prescription for a few Ativan and it really helped before surgery and a few times during the healing process when my boobs had not progressed to the attractive stage. I think the anesthesia can really throw you into a state of depression. It resolves but I didn’t quite realize the impact it would have on me.
I did have an office procedure post surgery to improve my scars which was successful. Didn’t require any further time off work. My breasts feel warm, natural and soft, so much better than the implants. I look better in clothing and undressed too, my husband liked the implants I think but he’s enjoying them back in their original state. I was a 30 B before kids, was 32DD with implants and now I’m 30A orB now. No one noticed the change in my breasts at work or friends, I didn’t tell anyone, I never told people I had implants. They don’t sag, I can go braless, I look leaner, I can run again without a heavy duty bra; I am so pleased. When I catch a glimpse of them in a mirror I smile, haven’t loved my breasts this much since before my first child. The scars from a lift are not too noticeable and mine are continuing to fade.
Implant removal and lift improved my quality of life and I am very happy with my results! If you are considering either or both procedures you will be very pleased!

Tiny is terrific. You look great. I had removal of 26 year old saline and a Lift. 2 1/2 week post op. I had a great surgeon and his staff was awesome. My husband and I are happy with the results. The healing has been really good. I had nausea for a few days after surgery and it was gross. I also have had some depression. Anesthesia always gives me nausea and a little depression. Always has. It fades for me. I do get a little tired still, but have started to walk already again and I am where I should be or better for two weeks post op. I am used to popping right back after surgery, so when a doctor tells me 6 weeks take it easy, I always think 2 weeks take it easy. I am almost 59 now. So, I am learning to be a little more patient. Good luck. I am happy for everyone that has "no regrets." Tiny is terrific. Yes.

Hi Jubee2. It’s quite a journey isn’t it? I didn’t expect the depression but it did resolve after a month or so. Glad to hear I was not the only one who experienced it. I’m like you and like to keep busy so not working out for a few weeks probably doesn’t help with the mood. Getting back to the gym felt great, I was released a little early, I think at 4 weeks.
I hope you continue to do well during recovery. It is so worth it to explant!

Yes, it is cool ho the lift worked so weak even without lots of breast tissue. I am glad you healed so well.
