I developed grade 2 Baker capsular contracture from 16 year old textured saline implants. I would find out later they were recalled implants. Dr. Gillespie took my medical history, listened to my story, and took time with me. He never tried to push replacement implants and educated me about breast implant illness. A previous doctor wasn’t as kind or capable of creating a treatment plan with me. Dr. Gillespie is skilled at fat transfer and did let me know that I could replace the volume I’d lose at explant with fat transferred through lipo from my abdomen to my breast. I chose him as my surgeon because he built rapport with me and presented a treatment plan that took all of my concerns into consideration. Though healing from lipo was hard the first few days and I ended up with surgical drains because of my expired textured implants, I have never regretted my decision. I feel and look better every week.
Whenever I have a question, Kathleen in the office is available to consult with Dr. Gillespie and call me back the same day. I feel very supported even after surgery and receive free follow-up appointments as I heal. As a lymphoma survivor, I believe Dr. Gillespie might have saved me from experiencing recurrence by agreeing to take my implants out and by not pushing new implants on me. I feel like he cares about my overall health and well-being.
