Best Decision I Made Choosing Harrington!

WORTH IT
From the first email requesting information through my first day home today, an amazing experience.
You can tell the entire team enjoys working together and cares about their patients. they all work together so well to ensure a positive experience through the whole process. I consulted with 4 surgeons before choosing Dr Harrington, all would require travel to get to. I did opt to travel for an in-person pre-surgery consult (i'm a worrier and planner!). So glad i did because the choice became hands-down clear. Dr Harrington is down-to-earth, easy to talk to, clearly skilled and smart, and I just knew I'd be in good hands. She explained the how and why very clearly. It was easy to speak to her directly with follow up questions. I was able to make decisions I felt sure of (and i'm an over-researcher!). I still can't believe how positive my experience with Dr Harrington and her team was and continues to be, I plan to write as many reviews as I can as I know i have been helped by reviewers in my own searches. I had pushed to try to get in with someone who was supposedly "on of the best for explant" in another state. I am so glad i heeded the warning signs and lack of communication and chose Dr Harrington. From the first call for a consult, the experiences were totally different. I would have been a worried mess at the other location. I felt like my family was taking care of me with Dr Harrington, a big deal during COVID when i wasn't able to have my family travel to help me post surgery.I am post-op day 3 and feel great, having to make sure i don't do too much is my biggest concern! If you care to know my previous history and reason for surgery choice, please read below. Otherwise just know you are in great hands at Harrington!I had Transaxillary endoscopic (through the armpit), below the muscle, saline implants in 2000 to correct a size imbalance (300/350CC). After 18 years i had "bottomed out" and had a bit of discomfort. So i had a revision with bilateral capsulorrhaphy where i switched to silicone in 2018 (325/375CC). I knew in my gut i should have had them just removed and while i asked at 2 consults, i now know no one in my city does a true explant. So i was convinced I'd be happier with silicone. I wasn't. And I was more uncomfortable and had more pain after the revision than i did with the initial saline. So i started researching again and found this site and a breast implant illness site to begin the hunt for what i know knew was an explant surgeon.Note i've had 3 years of supposed chronic fatigue syndrome in the past (for lack of any other diagnosis) and learned of a 2 generation history of auto-immune disease in my family since my first procedure, amongst other weird health struggles. Was it the implants? Who knows. I just decided it wasn't worth the risk or waiting to have them removed and another surgery as I got older. 20 years with them has been enough for me!I still don't know how i will look in the end as tissues settle and incisions heal, but i am so darned happy already. I am currently glad i didn't opt to have a lift, and that i did not need a muscle repair -some surgeons "always" do one i've learned and healing time/restriction is much more intensive. As a competitive athlete this was something i asked a lot about to ensure i made the right choice for me. I know the team at Harrington is the reason i have felt so confident during the entire process. No regrets at all, and I am even thankful I made the "mistake" of the revision a couple years ago as i know i've had a great explant performed now that would not have been possible locally.I hope this review helps you in your process making the best choice for you!

It would be nice to add b&a photos to help others researching. I hope you continue to feel better. I too am part of the BII FB group but am not at a point of explant. Good luck.

Did you have your capsules removed? A little torn on that.

I did have capsules removed. While I had them removed "en bloc", i was more interested in just ensuring the capsule was completely removed not necessarily all intact. I traveled out of state for my explant as there wasn't a local surgeon who had experience doing that, and I still personally feel good about deciding to ensure I had a surgeon who could completely remove the capsules.
