Liposuction Lumps and Indentations Results. Horrible.
My procedure was for a fat transfer to breast to naturally increase breast size some naturally.
During consultation, since I am a slender person, I asked if minimal liposuction could be done to do a fat transfer to breast. I was looking to see if not going with implants was a viable option for a person my size. Dr. Shermak said yes, she would take some fat from the abdomen and back.
After surgery (done under general), I was in a lot of pain, and it was all over my torso. Come to find out she liposuctioned my entire torso, from upper back to tailbone, sides/waist/flanks, front of torso from under breast (ribcage/side bra area), abdomen, hip sides and hip front through upper thigh.
On a later followup, upon questioning, Dr. Shermak said that when she says abdomen and back she always does a lipo 360. This was never conveyed prior to surgery and definitely didn't fit my request for minimal areas of liposuction. Her later comment on that was that she hadn't written that down. So it was my fault for not getting a specific drawing of the areas she was going to liposuction, but also shows her lack of detail to not have drawn that out. The contract says abdomen and sides, not lipo 360, not hips. Later, after I questioned why she had liposuctioned so much, she said abdomen and back can also mean waist and sides, and that it's a gray area, but it can include that. Since abdomen and back do not include hips, her excuse for performing liposuction on the hips area was that she needed to taper down. What?! Just lousy excuses for performing surgery on areas she shouldn't have.
And once it's taken out, it's gone. It's permanent.
First of all, she performed surgery on an area (the hips) that I didn't authorize and is not in contract, and second, the job has undesirable results. The whole thing is absolutely egregious.
When addressing the hips, in my stating to her that she liposuctioned my hip area without informing me, consulting me, without it being on the contract, and without my agreement and that that area is now indented, disfigured, and there's no getting that back, her responses include, “Well, bodybuilders like that”, “You can exercise” (she's suggesting that I can just exercise to put back on what she took out), and “I had to use that area to create a smooth transition” (obviously no smooth transitions, as you can see from the pictures, and that's still not reason to perform surgery on areas not agreed upon).
So
1)There was lack of laying out exactly what areas were to be liposuctioned. For her being “an expert” in the field, and now looking back on the whole thing, she should have marked me in consultations, taken pictures, drawn it out on paper.
2) She liposuctioned my hips and have indented my hips on the sides and front. She performed surgery on this area not agreed upon -that was not mentioned ever in consultation, nor on contract, and not in agreement. Additionally, she performed bad contouring and left me with an even greater area of bad liposuction results. And there's no ability to revise this.
3) The all-over liposuction results are horrible. Another surgeon has told me my results are called cobblestone liposuction, like a cobblestone road, just a bunch of bumps/lumps and valleys due to aggressive liposuctioning and uneven suctioning technique. This result is all over my torso. And this is not something that can be fixed. Multiple other plastic surgeons that I've consultated with regarding Dr Shermak's liposuction on me have said that they won't touch it, and there's nothing that should be expected to fix it; it's too difficult. This is permanent. I am disfigured.
4) In addition to the cobblestone effect, the transitions from liposuctioned area to non-liposuctioned areas are noticeable. There are clear demarcation lines/indentations that show where the liposuction starts/stops; so no smooth and unnoticable transition from non-liposuctioned area to liposutioned area. I can see and feel the dip transitioning from non-liposuctioned area to liposuctioned area. There are no smooth lines, no smooth form on my body now.
On a personal note, I just want you to know that plastic surgery done wrong is very traumatic mentally and emotionally. She took out my hips. She left me with lumps and indentations all over. She's distorted my body. And when it can't be corrected, it's even more difficult and sad. It is crushing. I wish I could turn back time. I lost what was good. I've been damaged. I've been given something horrible. I don't get to fix it. I don't get to leave it. It's stuck with me. Every day. Every day I see this. Every day I carry this. This is the forever me now. It's a hard thing.
For the pictures, the 4/4/2022 (day of surgery); these are pictures they took in office and printed out for me which I took pictures of so you could see.
The other pictures are January 2024, 1 year and 9 months after the surgery.
I tried to do my best with lighting to capture the bumps and indentations. It truly is horrible. It looks horrible. It feels horrible, like a hundred bumps and indentations when I run my hands over myself.
I can't wear thin shirts and have to be careful about plain shirts because then you'll see all the bumps and indentations in the fabric (esp if the wind blows my shirt against my skin).
