Happy Going into Surgery, This Was the Icing on Top!

I am now over 2 weeks PO for lipo of the hips, waist, back and fat transfer to breast. I am 5’1’’ and 115lbs, 32 years old, 1 child 5yo, no implants. I’ve never had any cosmetic surgery. I also have an extremely discerning eye – I wanted a natural yet obviously BETTER body. The sculpting Dr Gruber is able to achieve is unlike anything I have ever seen. I wanted my love handles gone, my booty to pop and bigger breast…And THAT is what I got!
Overall working with the office was great. Scheduling was easy as was getting a consult. I got a consult and waited about a year to actually schedule! Her renderings were AMAZING. The actual procedure I was SUPER nervous for, but honestly was a breeze (compared to MY recovery). (Will detail below).
I booked an AirBnB which was PERFECT because I drove (with my husband) and brought all the random stuff I needed, no need to walk far to get to the bedroom – which I immediately disappeared into after the procedure. FWIW the AirBnb was located in Carollwood, a suburb of Tampa (still Tampa on the address) very close to the clinic, safe, near anything you’d need.
The worst part of the procedure– being cleaned with cold water/being cold for a few minutes. The numbing was a few painful spots but nothing worse than getting your eyebrows threaded or something quickly and minimally painful. It didn’t HURT it was just a super WEIRD sensation. I think I said the F word – once, maybe twice. As far as the actual lipo and FT, I didn’t feel 99% of it. A few times I felt some pain and she quickly numbed me up. Dr Gruber was VERY in tune with me and listened very carefully. VERY minimal discomfort. The operating table was warm and comfortable, good music. Dr Gruber worked her butt off getting the best result possible. At the end, you literally get up and see the outcome of your surgery! I was FLOORED with how amazing I looked. I couldn’t stop looking at myself at the end. They put you in foam, compression and the next day you return for PO. They give you another compression garment to change into the following week.
The team is clearly VERY experienced, on point and Dr Gruber is a master. She’s very sweet and intuitive. I immediately felt calm with her. Be aware that there is substantial movement involved with this procedure (at least for hips, waist, back area of your body) it’s VERY interactive/physical/ and CRUCIAL you keep your hands away from the operating area. They direct you of this – but I wanted to mention because this was not drilled into my head beforehand but was crucial during surgery. I am in good physical shape so I felt this was a plus, as so much movement was necessary.
A few weeks prior to surgery I HYDRATED LIKE CRAZY, drinking electrolytes. The morning of surgery I ate A LOT of carbs. I was really glad I did this because I felt great the entire surgery. My biggest worry going into this surgery was that I’d be super light headed and pass out! (It didn’t happen AT ALL).
I was tired going back home after the surgery because of pain pills. I ate, fell asleep and woke up for my next pain meds. The following day I was up and about, sore, and stiff (especially upon getting up), but overall I was able to eat, pack, etc. I wasn’t totally out of it, bed bound or anything.
Now for the recovery part at home. I decided to quit the pain pills completely (along with Tylenol) by 2 days PO. I ended up having some bad reactions coming off the pain pills – headache, hangover feeling and ANXIETY (which I have had from time to time, especially during C19).
Few days later I was getting major diarrhea from the antibiotics. :(
These aforementioned 3-5 days were rough for me because of the MEDS affect. BUT OTHERWISE I FELT FINE. Physically very VERY minimal discomfort and pain.
Disclaimer: I AM EXTREMELY sensitive to RX drugs/substances. I usually get hangovers from pain pills, and I usually get yeast infections from antibiotics. I don’t drink coffee anymore because of anxiety. I get hangovers after 2 drinks, and I’m very petite – so the experience I had above I don’t think is normal. Just wanted to mention it here because I would call the recovery a “breeze” if it weren’t for those two snafus! There was some discomfort, swelling, bruising but it was quite literally nothing compared to the issues I had with the meds. I knew I was sensitive going into it, but it’s been years since I’ve been on them so I should have been on probiotics and had a pain management plan.
Angie (Dr Gruber’s nurse) and Dr Gruber were available basically 24/7 during this time to guide me, which I was very grateful for. You get Dr Gruber’s personal cell at the end of the surgery, and she checked in on me multiple times during the first week of my recovery.
So was it worth it!?
The money is definitely worth it. You pay for what you get - an expert.
My bod: wow – amazing!!! Far exceeded my expectations. The way she sculpted my waist is literally what I’ve wanted since I was an adolescent!! I’ve been TINY and I’ve been seriously overweight and I’ve NEVER had this shape before. I absolutely love the result.
Obviously I had the issue with the meds so no more elective surgeries for me anytime soon. But I would say if I didn’t have those issues, I’d have already booked another procedure with her for sure.

This sounds like a dream come true!! I’m scheduled for lipo/FT to breast next month and I REALLY appreciate all of your attention to detail! I can’t wait for that moment to see my improved body in the mirror! I’m literally going to cry!
Do you have any before/after pics? Any new updates about the recovery? Hope you have a lovely Christmas and happy healing!! Xx

I will post them! I'm doing the review on my computer and the pics are on my phone. I'm 6 weeks PO now. I've been wearing the compression with foam b/c I got some bad dents from the compression folding into a crease. But it went away within a few days. My partner and I got c19 about 2 weeks into my recovery so that added a whole nother layer of anxiety and stress. I FEEL physically great. MENTALLY I've been dealing with a lot but there's a light at the end of the tunnel. My body looks EFFING AMAZING. That's the easy part. The mental was the hardest for me....I'm grateful to work from home and wear my weird clothes (baggy) over my compression garment and foam. I'm going to continue to wear compression as long as I feel necessary. It feels MUCH better to be wearing it.

It sounds like you had a wonderful experience! I hope you continue to heal well. Just wondering how you picked Dr. Gruber vs. going with Dr. Su or Dr. Hamwi? I would think they are all extremely talented! ☺️ How does one pick?
January 11, 2021
I agree they are both great with amazing before and afters. I liked Dr Gruber's "Gruber booty"... That's why I picked her.

Congrats! I am similar to your size and curious about breast fat transfer & lipo results. Do you have any before & after pics you can kindly share? My concern is Dr.Grubber is not a board certified plastic surgeon but I have been following her work

Great review- very helpful information. Pictures would help even more. Would you at least mind sharing how much extra it was for the fat transfer to breasts and how many cc's were grafted? Hope you're healing well! Massage those lipo areas and wear your garment!
January 11, 2021
It was 10k total. About 5k for the lipo of hips, waist, back and then 5k for the FT. The abdomen is a separate area and extra but she did not recommend it and I beleive it looks more natural without doing the abs. Also doing compression would be very difficult for abs. I believe 300ish was transfer to each breast. I didn't have enough room to put in more. I will try to add pics! I have some.

Would love it if you keep updating! What was your bra size before surgery? Any idea what it is now?
March 5, 2021
32b but very empty so probably more like a 34a cup before surgery. I would say I'm probably a 32c right now (3 months post op when the fat is at it's final sticking stage).... but I honestly haven't gone to buy new bras yet. (Haven't had time) I've been wearing a large sports bra type thing the whole time. Before surgery I was a small or xs! I love my new boobies and I didn't think I'd retain so well. Maybe because my love handles had been there for so long?

Thanks for responding and you look really good!

Here are some photos. I wish I had some before of my breast but suffice it they were very deflated 32b-ish. Marks on my stomach are from the compression foam I wear under the garment which helps immensely with dents.

Hey, you look great! Did you have to sleep on your back the whole time?
January 22, 2021
Yes I've been sleeping on my back since surgery ...I don't recall what Dr Gruber advises but I had read to sleep on your back for 3 months somewhere so I'm doing that. It prevents facial wrinkles too so I figure it's a win win.

How much did the procedure cost, and most importantly how much cc/ml of fat has been transferred to each breast? Was the fat enriched with your own PPR?
March 5, 2021
10k, I believe it was 250-290 transferred to each breast. My breast wouldn't take any more as they were very small. Fat was not enriched with my own PRP. I'm now 3 months post op and I've maintained a full cup size.

Really pretty and thanks for the details ☺️

You look amazing! How long would you say it took for your incision scars to fade?

3 Months Post Op um WOW

Qwerty6588
Hi everyone I'm 3 months PO. I wanted to wait to this point to determine how well I maintained the fat transfer. Apparently the 3 months mark is it. Well I've maintained really well. After the first few weeks they went down but I'm at LEAST a full cup size bigger than before - maybe more. I can't wear any of the old bras OR bralettes that are super stretchy. I was counting on maybe a half cup but I'm beyond thrilled with what I kept. My weight has been steady, and I had gained a little weight prior to the procedure because of covid gym shut downs. I have not worked out at all, I've slept on my back 100% of the time since surgery and I've only worn a loose non-wire bra the entire time, or gone braless. I also wore the foam in my garment for 3 months straight and am only now wearing the garment without foam (to prevent indentions). I did start lymphatic massage and it helps a ton. I also do not drink or smoke. Apparently not drinking helps! I wish I had before pics of my breasts but I do not! My swelling has gone down a ton in the last month and continues to go down. I still have a little in my lower back. Overall I'm AMAZED with my body.

Fantastic body contouring, did she do your outer thighs? You don't mention it, but your thighs look slimar afterwards, so I'm confused.

Thank you for the update! Glad you are happy with the results! Any lumps in your breasts? How are the lipo sites, it seems like lipo is her specialty, I'm beginning to think the key to good fat transfer outcomes is picking someone that is really experienced in lipo
