An Exemplary Surgeon

Without reservation, I strongly recommend the highly competent Consultant Plastic Surgeon Riaz Agha to all those considering surgery.
My experience from beginning to end with Riaz at the Harley Clinic has been seamless. He has great bedside manners, professional and is fully attentive to your needs. From the consultation to the procedure to the aftercare, I have been throughly looked after and checked in on every step of the way. All correspondence is direct with Riaz himself at any time or day of the week. There is no middle man, receptionist or nurse and I think this is an important aspect to mention, given the difficulty some patients face in directly reaching their surgeon post-operatively.
I came to Riaz with a vision to augment my breasts and wasn’t particularly concerned about any other areas. We discussed many options and decided on a treatment plan of breast fat transfer from 2 donor sites and as a result, my entire body and shape has positively transformed. I am over the moon and honestly cannot not ask for more.
I am petite and slim and was therefore prepared to be turned away or persuaded to have implants at the consultation. However, Riaz respected my decision not to have implants and was confident that I was an ideal candidate for breast fat transfer at my current BMI. 400cc was successfully transferred to each breast (from abdomen and inner thighs) with particular attention to filling the deficiency in the upper poles and cleavage area. The size and boundaries of my body were respected and as a consequence, the results are well proportioned, AMAZING and VERY NATURAL. The skill set, attention to detail and artistry required for this type of operation is demanding, but Riaz went above and beyond to deliver results that far exceeded my expectations.
I am currently 2.5 weeks post op and am pretty much back to my normal mobility and everyday regime. My recovery and healing has been far quicker than I expected. I assumed that I would be house-bound for weeks and experience greater disruption and inconvenience to my work schedule, but that was definitely not the case. I went back to work exactly 1 week post op. My job involves intricate manual dexterity and requires me to be on my feet for most of the day and I have been feeling absolutely fine. In fact, no-one even detected that I had recently undergone extensive surgery.
I love my body and the new found confidence I have obtained from having this surgery. I know this is not yet the final result, but I am already in love with what I see. I can’t wait to see myself in a few more weeks and months when the residual swelling goes down.
I have learnt a hell of a lot from Riaz, both as a patient and as a fellow professional in the field. No question is a stupid question and he takes the time to explain absolutely everything. Thank you Riaz for all that you have done for me so far. You are truly inspiring and motivational.

An Exemplary Surgeon
The consultation process is a fundamental part of any medical procedure, no matter how big or small. It ensures that important objectives are met and also forms the basis of mutual understanding, trust and rapport between the doctor and patient.
I have had a wonderful first meeting with Dr Riaz. He is an expert in his field, equipped with a wealth of knowledge and clinical experience. His extensive academic background is exemplary and his ongoing contributions to evidence-based medicine shows that he is wholly committed to the profession. I am a healthcare professional myself and respectfully, the credentials check is an important step to me. As always, I would strongly advise all those seeking treatment to please do your research!
During the consultation, Dr Riaz had a ready supply of information and materials to help me visualise realistic outcomes and manage my expectations of undergoing breast fat transfer. Being on the petite and slightly slim-ish side of body types, we have decided to achieve this via liposuction from two sites; abdomen and thighs. We also discussed alternative treatment options, the pros and cons and weighed up the risks and benefits of each. My cooling period ensured that I was given adequate time to reflect and digest the information that was discussed, before making an informed decision. I did not feel pressurised or coerced at any point and in fact, my actual consultation took just shy of 2 hours! This was a true show of understanding and empathy, considering many clinics are strictly adhered to 20-30min appointments.
I should also emphasise that Dr Riaz did a thorough mental health assessment; a vital guideline that is often overlooked in modern healthcare and society. In this day and age, one cannot simply assume without questioning.
Dr Riaz has gone above and beyond to fit me in, considering the tight schedules surrounding my work commitments. His communication and responsiveness via phone and email has been quick and easy 24/7. This is particularly reassuring for those who may require post-operative advice or medical attention at short notice.
Thank you for a smooth process so far Dr Riaz. You are a delightful and very easy person to talk to - I can’t say that about many in an industry plagued with egos and thinly-veiled sales pitches! I look forward to my procedure and being in safe hands :)

Are you going to follow up your review with a report about the actual procedure? That would be helpful to get a full picture, otherwise it may be very premature to praise him just based on the consultation phase. I had a very good consultation for my rhinoplasty and the surgeon was supposed to be a star in his field, but the actual surgery result was (in the words of another specialst years later) a disater. I've also had 3 breast fat surgeries all with the same surgeon (another specialist in the field) and while all three consultations were excellent, she didnt completely deliver as promised.
P.S. I've just noticed that his breast fat transfer before and after photos here on his realself gallery shows one example where the after photo was taken 1 week after the procedure, another example the after photo was taken 4 weeks after. The rest of the photo dont give a time indication. 1 week and 4 weeks after a breast fat transfer IN NO WAY indicates final results and therefore arent representative of his skill. In all three of my breast fat procedures only 3-4 months after surgery was my final result achieved. I hope he showed you examples of longer term results during your consultation.

I am genuinely sorry to hear your rhinoplasty was a disaster and that your previous three breast fat transfers did not marry up to your expectations.
Please note that my review was based on the “consultation”. The surgery has not yet taken place, but regardless, the pragmatism in me would not necessarily retract something that I had positively felt and written at that time, just because something may have changed later on down the line.
As I stated in my review, I was shown an array of materials during my consultation that I consider to be a true indication and fair reflection of the surgeon’s work and capabilities, many of which are not (yet) posted on Real Self.
As a healthcare provider myself, I would like to think that I possess a fair and unbiased level of understanding and expectation. Every procedure has its pros and cons and no surgery is without its risks or complications.
I am fully aware that ~3+ months is a realistic indication for permanent results as this would have allowed for healing and fat resorption to take place. I chose breast fat transfer for specific reasons and completely understand its limitations in comparison to implants, including the possible need for future re-grafting, as the exact results cannot be predicted and determined in the same way that implants can.
Whilst every procedure is heavily technique sensitive, it’s important to understand that there are also a number of parameters outside of the surgeon’s control that affect the ways in which our tissues respond and ultimately the final result. When it comes to breast fat transfer in particular, the literature cites a myriad of factors affecting variable resorption rates including weight, lifestyle factors and underlying health conditions etc..
There is a great deal of science and artistry involved in this specific treatment and I am confident that my surgeon will deliver safely and to the best of his abilities. Although it’s easy to judge past work and extrapolate these results onto your own self, remember that what worked well for someone else may not work in the same way for you. There are so many other things to consider. Every case is independent and tailored to the individual because the reality is that they are working with different breasts, bodies and baselines. Surgery is not a one size fits all. But that’s the beauty of it.
