Explant Surgery...So Glad I Did It!

WORTH IT
I had breast implants for almost 9 years and much like a lot, not all...but a lot of women. I started to have symptoms and get sick from my implants. You may ask how do I know? After doing yoga, dancing and just into a lot of healthy things for years, I am really in tune with my body. And I just knew. So from the time I figured it out until I had the surgery may have been a period of 6 months. I went to a few different doctors here in Austin. But I was referred to real self and Dr. Whitfield by a friend who was also having her implants removed. I am so glad that I had them removed. I have been constantly detoxing and a lot of my symptoms have left and I have been feeling better and better everyday.

I am so glad that I was referred to Dr. Whitfield, he is the best! A lot of Doctors don't believe in breast implant illness and not to say that he does. But he really listened and heard my concerns. I feel like that's important and it's what I needed. Any questions I had, he was more than happy to answer them, even if I asked them a hundred times. He assured me everything would be fine, and it was. I not only had my implants removed, but I also had a lift. I was told that it's probably not best to have bot procedures done at the same time, but we did. And he was great at being able to gauge and sculpt me soon to be itty bitties. The surgery center was very clean and welcoming, and so was the staff. They were friendly, helpful and took great care of not only me, but my mom who flew into town to be with me during the surgery. After care was just as great as during. I had some problems because the implants were actually too big for my body type. But Dr. Whitfield saw me through that also. Over all I am very happy, and would recommend that whatever your needs are The Breast and Body Center and Dr. Whitfield will take care of you.

I'm considering 300cc implants but want to think 10 years ahead. I'm very healthy and am wondering what types of symptoms were you having???
Hi NattyDiva, sorry I'm just seeing this. I had a plethora of symptoms that at first I didn't contribute to my implants. Blurred vision, skin rashes, hives, joint pain, back pain, vertigo, sore throats, bronchitis, thick mucus in the back of my throat. And these are just off the top of my head.

Welcome, and thanks for sharing your story with us. I hope you'll enjoy being part of this awesome, supportive community. Congratulations on your successful result! How long was your downtime?

Hi how much did he charge for the procedure? Also was it done local or general anesthesia?
Hey there, my cost may differ from yours because I also had a lift. But it was somewhere around 9-10k. Also, it was general anesthesia.
Congrats on your explant. can't wait for mine! did he do en bloc/total capsulectomy?
Hi, did Dr Whitfield do a lollipop vertical lift, or a full anchor lift on you? I'm so glad you're happy with your results. I too had implant explantation which was one of the best things I've ever done (getting implants in the first place being one of the dumbest).
