Breast Augmentation and Ulcerative Colitis Journey

Hello! My name is Lorelei and I've decided to start a blog of my new adventure of getting breast implants while living with ulcerative colitis (UC). Most of my posts should just be about the procedure itself unless any complications arise regarding my disease.
Here's a little history; I was diagnosed with UC in 2002 when I was 7-years-old and I am 23-years-old now. Ulcerative colitis is an auto-immune disease that effects your large intestine and causes a plethora of symptons that range from internal bleeding to toxic mega colon. Things that trigger my UC from most severe to least severe flares include; altitude above 4,500 feet, all alcoholic drinks, cream cheese, beef, and milk.
I have yet to really find a blog providing a lot of information about UC and breast augmentations so I'm just going to consider myself the guinea pig here. Please keep in mind that my experiences with this journey will not necessarily match anyone else's.
During my first consulation with Dr. Marin I mentioned how I had currently been on steroids (prednisone) for almost a year, a high dosage of at least 20mg for 10 months. For people that do not know about steroids they can be both miracle drugs and create absolute hell for the person using them and it is not recommended for people to be on them for more than about 2 months. However, for some people like me steroids are very difficult to get off of. I had symptons ranging from severe joint pain, moon face, and light weight gain (no more than 12 lbs).
Dr. Marin said that before he would consider doing the surgery I would need to be off of steroids for at least 4 months to allow my collagen levels to replenish. We were definitely on the same page with that; I already had a plan to be off of the steroids a month later. I scheduled a second consultation with Dr. Marin two months later on November 28, 2018 and was happy to let him know I had been off the steroids for a full month!
So for anyone wanting large implants and having an auto-immune disease that requires to you to take medication that effects your collagen, skin, and healing abilities there are size limitations. Dr. Marin advised me that I probably would never be able to go past 550cc implants personally. I am currently starting out with a small 32B, some bras I can't fill the full cup and wear mostly bralettes or no bra now. I want to reach at least a D cup.
During my second consulation I spoke with Dr. Marin a little more and had some additional questions about post-op procedures, sleeping, and when I could ride my motorcycle again. After that I scheduled my surgery and put down a deposit! I am scheduled to have my surgery done on February 26, 2018. That will be exactly 4 months and 5 days of being off of steroids and I could not be more excited.
I have very few concerns about the actual procedure and just a few regarding my UC. I am concerned that the antibiotics will trigger my UC, but I plan on taking a high dose of probiotics (VSL #3) after the procedure to replenish my gut of its good bacteria. VSL #3 has been very good to me in the past. I am also concerned that my body might see the implants as a threat and trigger my auto-immune disease and possibly attack my large intestine because of it, but I have a small stockpile of Lialda (anti-inflammatory, oral) and Rowasa (anti-inflammatory, enema). Yeah, my disease is not fun, but I'm not going to let that stop me!
The next few posts will include my wish list and pre-op preparation and possibly any other information I discover regarding my UC and the sugery. If anyone is reading and has questions or comments I'm happy to hear either and help where I can.

Well, hello everyone! I am 3 days post-op and wow those days kicked my butt. I've been delayed with taking pictures of myself along with updating because I just haven't felt well. So here's what is going on. My major symptoms are vomiting and blurry vision. Generally I can see well up close but right now I need to close one eye to be able to see my phone screen. All of that is slowly fixing itself though! I'm pretty tired so I'm just going to post my wish list pictures and pass out. The best news is though is that I have no ulcerative colitis symptoms! Yay! Anyways, here's the photos. <3
