If I Could Put 10 out of 5 I Would
I cannot begin to say how happy I am with the treatment from Mr Ben Chew. I went to see him after many years of deliberating over whether to have breast augmentation and also after multiple consultations and a lot of research.
My final deciding factor to have surgery was I was really unhappy with my breasts post breastfeeding (was slightly unhappy pre baby but much more unhappy with them post baby). I went to see numerous surgeons both in Edinburgh and also London and Cheshire. It was really important to me to pick the right surgeon. I have lots of medical colleagues including my husband and many people had recommended Mr Chew to me so I went to see him for a consultation. The consultation was very thorough and I liked that he showed me women with similar breasts to mine and the outcome of them. I also expressed that would would like another baby (not imminently but in the future) and explained that I would prefer to have the surgery before having our next child as otherwise I would be waiting some time before I could do this and had been unhappy with them for some time. Ben took the time to examine me and explain how breast changes are normally the same after each pregnancy and as I was not having an uplift if we were only considering one more child it shouldn't make much difference (although with any surgery nothing is guaranteed). After going away to think about things I decided to go ahead.
I was very nervous the surgery date but the team were just incredible, I had Dr Rona as an anaesthetist and she made me feel so at ease (given the general was the thing I was probably most nervous about as I had no doubt in Mr Chew's ability). I woke up from surgery feeling like I had a nice sleep (albeit very swollen! I was not in any pain and had no nausea). I was up and walking around the ward very shortly after surgery, the staff on the unit I cannot praise enough, every single staff member made a real effort and made my recovery so easy, all were caring and attentive at the Nuffield.
I returned home the following day as I lived in Edinburgh, if it wasn't for the travel I would have likely gone home the same day. I had a lot of swelling for 2 weeks but given I had good pain relief I cannot say I was in much pain, I managed 3 days post op and hour and a half of walking with little discomfort. Stopped the strong painkillers day 3 and was just on paracetamol. I was quite swollen for a few weeks post op but managed to go on holiday approximately 2 weeks after (with a toddler in tow) and was able to enjoy everything I normally would have done. I was doing very light exercise on the peloton 3 weeks later and felt fine, didn't do weight lifting.
3 months later now and I am over the moon with my results, I feel like this is the natural shape my breasts are meant to be. My clothes fit so much better and aside from tight tops and my bras all my dresses still fit me (just better than before as the breast area isn't loose). I am back to full weight lifting and aside from mild tightness when lifting overhead I really wouldn't know I had surgery.
I found Mr Chew to be exceptionally detail orientated, very caring (he came in on a Saturday when he wasn't working to check in on me), and I am over the moon with my results.
The results have given me so much confidence and my recovery was so much better than I had imagined. Thank you to the wonderful team at the Nuffield and to Mr Chew (who I will highly recommend to anyone considering surgery).
