Surgery is Friday

I have been using this app for the last 4 months. Prior to knowing about this app I did a lot of research online. The courage you ladies gave me and the before and after pics helped me greatly decide what I wanted to do. I have waited almost my whole life for this day ( Literally). I’m going to make a long story short, at the age of 12, I only developed 1 breast, my left one, remained completely flat on my right side. As I continued to develop on my left side, lipoma started to form from my breast to my back. I was picked on/ embarrassed and ashamed for the way I developed as it was extremely noticeable. At 16 my mom decided to get an implant on my right side and liposuction on the left with a breast lift. The procedure did not go as planned, I was left with more self esteem issues. Now at the age of 30 and 3 kids later I have decided to take this journey again, this time after extensive research and many consultations. I decided to schedule my surgery with Dr. Basile out of Jacksonville, Fl. He has a very extensive background, high confidence, amazing bed side manner and he spent the most time explaining every detail with me and our worst case scenarios. As I will be having multiple procedures. I’m extremely nervous about the pain and my own expectations. I know I’m not going to be perfect however I will be extremely happy if I can wear a bathing suite/ tank tops for the first time ever and not being able to see my asymmetry trough my clothing. I have 2, possibly 3-4 procedures ahead of me, this Friday being the first and hardest one. I was hesitant about sharing, but why not? This app has help me greatly. I have also decided to get some lipo while I’m at it, on my abdomen/ flanks and arms. Why not just feel like a completely new women?

Forgot to ask...how are you doing now? How is healing going? When are you scheduled for another procedure or do you need to wait?

Im doing amazing! I have wrote a few updates with the complications I am having with my left breast. My left areola is struggling to get the proper air flow. As we knew it was damaged in a previous surgery I had about 15 years ago. All my healing is long well, except for my left side. I am seeing Dr. Basile every 2 days right now. He has been so amazing, and has been right by my side every step of the way. With phone calls and text messages, even on the holiday weekend. We will not be discussing another procedure until I fully recover from this procedure, he said at least 6 months o even a year, since we have run into a healing issues. My pain level has been very minimal, just very sore in my stomach area. Thank our so much for our comment! It is so very encouraging and thoughtful.

Surgery was canceled

I hardly slept last night, my nerves were getting the best of me, on top of that, my throat started to have a slight itch to it. I did not feel bad going into the surgery center this morning, however, when I was prepping for surgery and the nurse was doing my vitals my temperature was a little high, 99.5. The nurse rechecked my temperature with a different thermometer, it was 99.8 this time. She had informed me she had to call Dr. Basile. We decide to continue to prepare me for surgery and wait for Dr. Basile to come in and evaluate me and make a decision from there. I informed the nurse my children were sick this week and with me starting to show symptoms it was obvious I was started to come down with something. Dr. Basile was so professional and very caring, he informed me it is in my best interest to postpone the surgery. My emotions are everywhere, I’m upset that we could not go through with it. As my husband is on military leave and we have family coming into town to watch my children everything is worked out perfectly, right now. But I know this is the right choice. Dr. informed me to home and get rest, load up vitamin C and fluid. His coordinator Heather will be contacting me later this afternoon and we are going to try to fit me in early next week, hoping this is just a bug that will clear by the weekend. I’m a firm believer everything happens for a reason and God is in control. Im hoping this fever goes away over the weekend and I can have my surgery next week, if they are able to get me in.

Surgery is rescheduled

After getting told this morning that my surgery would be canceled, I received a call and was asked to go to a walk in clinic to get a strep test and then we could plan to have surgery, possibly Tuesday of next week if all came back good. I went to the walk in clinic, $119 later as the did not except tri care insurance. All test came back negative. I called Heather the coordinator for Dr. Basile and was still told we needed to hold off on surgery until the 19th of April. I’m disappointed and annoyed. However, I know they want what is best all around and I’m sure I am a liability for surgery in the OR. Hopefully my next attempt for surgery will be better.
