Frustrating Experience: Dr Gorin's Oversight

I want to share my experience with Dr. Gorin, even though it was seven years ago. Honestly, seeing his 5-star ratings on Real Self has me feeling frustrated all over again, and I think it’s important for others to know what I went through.

After my breast surgery, I noticed that one of my implants didn’t look right. When I brought it up, Dr. Gorin completely brushed me off and didn’t think anything was wrong. So, I went to see Dr. Jewel (before he retired), and he did an ultrasound that revealed one of my implants had flipped. He suggested that Gorin should fix it and even offered to write a letter to him.

After Dr. Jewel reached out, Gorin finally agreed to schedule a corrective surgery. He tightened the skin around both implants, which was meant to prevent future issues. But then, less than a week later, I got a call from Gorin saying he had accidentally left the temporary sizers inside me and hadn’t put my actual implants back in! I couldn’t believe it—he literally sewed me up with those sizers still in! Meanwhile, where were my implants?

Now, on top of everything, I’m left with more scar tissue from that unnecessary additional surgery. I just want to warn anyone thinking about going to Dr. Gorin. My experience was far from what I expected, and I think it’s important to be aware of the potential risks.

Response from Dr. Gorin:
Thanks for your comments as I am always looking for ways to improve. It pains me to now discover that you are having continued issues with your result all these years later… and even more so that you feel I ‘brushed you off’. That is just not me. As a reminder, I never charge for revisions in the first year. I might be the only one with that policy in the state (or beyond) and have had that in place since I started 20 years ago. I do this because I always treat patients as if they were family. I think you’ll find that most of the reviews online show that I try to go above and beyond the norm in how I treat my patients. That said, you are absolutely correct. I, indeed, accidentally placed the (sterile) implant sizers instead of the actual implants during the ‘skin tightening’ revision. This was a once (if that) in career event. My hope was that correcting the problem 5 days later using the same incision should not have caused additional scar tissue of any significance. However, I do not believe I got to see you after the final procedure. Any chance you’d be willing to describe the scar tissue you are referring to? I’d be happy to offer to fix any issues that still may be there. Feel free to contact me at 503.692.7222 or email: DrGorin@GorinPlasticSurgery.com
