Consultation review - told me to lose the weight and come back

ORIGINAL POST

Wouldn’t Recommend

I went in for a breast augmentation consultation last week. When I called to schedule the appointment the front desk staff was friendly and answered the questions I had. I asked them to give me a general estimate for what I was after and explained the timeline of when I was wanting to get the procedure done before scheduling. I was under the assumption that breast augmentation patients were booked out 4-5 weeks and I was ok with that. Upon arriving for my consultation I was greeted by friendly and professional front desk staff. When I went back to begin my actual consultation the nurse told me that the doctor would take photos, mark me up, show different implant sizes etc. so I expected him to be fairly thorough. I was so wrong. Dr. Nick Vial came in asked me what I was interested in and when I told him breast aug he took the appointment in an entirely different direction. He then recommended fat transfer, had me remove my leggings and proceed to pick my body apart in front of the mirror from cellulite that he said it wouldn’t help, to my flanks and thighs. I had told him that it was outside of the what I was wanting to do and he continued to push for it even though it would not get me anywhere close to where I wanted to be in breast size. He then offered repeatedly to give me a referral weight loss (once again not what I came for) and for reference my perfect weight would be 20-30 lbs lighter. I’m not morbidly obese. After I declined that. He told me to lose the weight and come back because they’re booked until June or July. No further discussion of implants or breast aug and he walked out.Start to finish he spent 5 minutes tops. It was a waste of $100 and I would not recommend his services. I called my husband and cried when I left his office. Picture of my body for reference.

You're not alone - I'd recommend connecting with doctors in Portland instead I found it was well worth the extra travel! Dr. Allen Gabriel in Vancouver, WA was great. However, I ended up going with Dr. Austin Hayes for my surgery. I'm 2 weeks into recovery now and had an amazing experience. Both doctors made me feel like I was in good hands. :)
Wow! What an awful, degrading experience! I’m so sorry you were treated that way. You’re beautiful! I’m glad you posted this for others to hopefully read before booking with this doctor. Hope you’re able to find a better surgeon who respects their patients and can give you what you want! Good luck on your journey.
Your doctor is a pretty poor listener. At some point in conversations with people like this, you almost have to finesse away for them to repeat back to you what you want. Fat transfer isn’t bad, it would increase you a cup size, so I’m told I went for my consult and we just together thought that the fat transfer would be what I wanted. My description for what I wanted was I wanted more on the upper pole and fullness. And I wanted a mastopexy. His opinion was that I wasn’t quite ready for mastery; I could wait. But I knew what I wanted so, I told him I want a master Pepi. I changed my mind about fat and told him that I wanted implants instead. My surgeon is planning on this Four weeks from now. I have a preop appointment next week and we will discuss the matter at length. Next week we do do pictures again, and I don’t know what he does as far as helping me find the proper implant for what I want. I’m not sure why your doctor thought you needed to lose weight for your surgery. Did he give you a reason? The reason I ask this is if he is planning to transfer he would need fat to transfer. There’s nothing wrong with the little girl fluff where it belongs, this is where they harvest it from. My dock was going to do Lipo on my hips, my sides up to my armpits for a fat transfer. I just got the liposuction because I wanted it.
I’m so sorry that he had poor listening skills and came across insensitively. Try not to let it hurt you. You have a very cute figure from the backside if I can say that lol! It’s your figure, keep what you wanna keep and do what you wanna do with your breast. If the doctor has an excellent reputation and record, if you can accept that he needs bigger emphasized cues on what you want and you can take charge of the conversation then I would consider him. If you think he’s not going to listen to you sounds like it’s done. If he wants you to lose weight you need to find out why. If your weight falls in a specific range and it’s a little on the upside, it increases the risks for anesthesia. Personally, I don’t think you looked like you were high-risk for anesthesia based on weight. Anyway, big communication problem.
Good luck to you in your search. You are beautiful. And you deserve what you want with your breasts.
I love what my phone did with mastopexy. Master pepi? Lol! That’s hilarious!
