WORTH IT$10,000
I'm nearing the end of my 5th day PO and besides some sharp shooting pains in my left breast and overall tightness in both, I'm feeling great. I have full movements in both arms and can lift them above my head, although I'm still careful not to bare weight on them and I notice if i do too much (walk up and down the stairs too many times, reach for things, clean up) or lift things too often (even very lightweight things) my breasts start to feel extra tight and swollen. That's usually my signal to stop and take it easy. It's hard to forget that only 5 days ago I was cut open! I have zero bruising and was only moderately uncomfortable the day after surgery. By day 3 I had stopped both the Oxy and Valium, and only needed Tylenol for the pain. I think a huge part of this smooth healing process started with how skilled and talented my surgeon is!

I honestly don't have the time or the space to explain how incredible Dr. Liu has been throughout this whole (kinda scary) process, but since the very beginning at the consultation he has been the most genuine, caring, and honest person - beyond my imagination.

Day of surgery - first post op appt photos

As I mentioned in my first post, recovery was a lot easier than I had anticipated. It's so important to be prepared by buying everything you need beforehand and setting up at home the day before going into surgery! I had my little rest sanctuary area complete with lots of pillows, a back wedge to keep upright and a heating pad for an extra level of coziness. Also set up a medicine/supplement station on an open counter with the all the caps twisted off for easy, painless access. I stopped taking oxy after the first night of surgery (made me nauseous and constipated) and really just needed tylenol around the clock to help with muscle tightness and weird burning nerve pains. I think the hardest thing for me was being so inactive and sleeping at a 45 degree angle upright on my back for the first week. Aside from that it wasn't bad at all. Self care, rest and love is top priority after a major surgery like this - especially for the first week! Also, remember to stay hydrated!

Dr. Liu called me the night of surgery to check in on me and let me know everything went well. I was still really loopy from all the drugs but just hearing his voice and knowing he was there if I had any questions was so comforting. He is seriously so sweet and the best Dr. I could I have chosen to be in my corner throughout this whole journey!

Lastly I'm extremely thankful to have a very supportive, caring S/O to help me whenever I needed. My only job was to recover and rest. Super grateful.
