A Difficult Experience Despite High Expectations
I unfortunately did not have a positive experience with Dr. Tregaskiss, despite his strong reputation and many five-star reviews. I chose him because he seemed like one of the top-rated surgeons in the Vancouver area and had many happy patients.
The initial process went smoothly — the consultation, scheduling, and pre-op preparations were well-organized, and the front-desk team (especially Sam) was very kind and professional. My main goal was to find implants that complemented my tall frame and added natural-looking volume. We discussed sizes between 325 cc and 350 cc moderate-profile implants, and I ultimately chose 325 cc after being reassured this was not large for my body type.
The surgery itself went well, and Dr. Tregaskiss reviewed my sizing choice with me before the operation. However, very soon after surgery, I began to feel that something wasn’t right. The implants looked noticeably larger than expected for my frame, though I tried to trust the process and follow all post-op instructions carefully — wearing the surgical bra, avoiding heavy lifting, and resting as directed.
My first concern was how difficult it was to reach the post-op support team. When I emailed with questions about my anti-inflammatory medication, I didn’t receive a response for several days and had already stopped taking them by the time I heard back. When I went in a week later to have my bandages removed, the nurse who did it didn’t explain any aftercare or provide reassurance about how my incisions and scars looked — I honestly felt like it was her first time doing it, just like mine.
At each of my post-op appointments, I consistently raised my concerns about how the implants felt — explaining the heaviness, discomfort, and the shifting into my armpit and asked repeatedly whether what I was experiencing was normal. Each time, I was reassured that it was simply due to my anatomy and nothing to worry about.
But as months went by, I continued to experience pain and discomfort. I couldn’t remove my surgical bra for more than a few minutes without severe pressure and soreness. My scars were rising above the fold, my implants began shifting outward toward my armpits, and I developed noticeable stretch marks across my breasts.
I booked another appointment to express my concerns again. Dr. Tregaskiss acknowledged the movement but told me it was my anatomy and not “significant enough” to be worried about. When I tried to explain my symptoms, he asked if it could be “in my head” or related to anxiety — which made me feel dismissed and unheard.
For months, I tried to convince myself that everything was fine. But nearly a year post-op, my discomfort only worsened — I needed constant support, couldn’t wear normal bras or bikinis, and felt deeply uncomfortable in my own body.
Eventually, I sought a second opinion from another highly reviewed surgeon in the area. He immediately confirmed that I was experiencing bottoming-out and recommended revision surgery: smaller implants, placed over the muscle with internal sutures for support. He also reviewed my original surgical notes and discovered that I had received 325 cc high-profile implants, not moderate-profile as I had chosen, something I was never informed about.
I decided to move forward with the revision surgery under his care, and I’m now six weeks post-op feeling 1000× better. The new implants suit my frame perfectly, stay in place, and give me the natural shape and comfort I was originally hoping for. I finally have cleavage and mobility that I never achieved even a year after my first surgery. The post op care is incredible as I go in weekly to bi-weekly to make sure everything is healing! They explain every step of the process and provide me with the necessary scar cream and tape for my incisions. They tell me everything I should expect so nothing is a surprise during the recovery and answer all my questions I have.
It’s disappointing to write this review because I had high hopes and wanted to believe in the reputation Dr. Tregaskiss has built. However, I want to share my experience honestly so others can make fully informed decisions. Please take the time to do multiple consultations, ask detailed questions about implant profiles and sizing, and make sure you feel completely confident in your surgeon’s communication and aftercare.
I’m a young, healthy patient with good skin quality and no prior procedures — these complications should not have developed so quickly. The lack of communication, sizing mix-up, and dismissal of my concerns were deeply discouraging. While I’m happy to have found a solution elsewhere, I hope sharing this helps someone else avoid the same experience.
