A to C Cup. Can't Believe I Did It...No Regrets! So Happy!
I am currently about 8 weeks post-op and so far I am very pleased with my results! I am a 35 year old mother of two (breast fed), weighing in at 105 lbs. standing at approximately 5'3". I went from a size A to a size C cup. My implants are Mentor High Profile, Round, Smooth, 375 CC Silicone Gel, under the muscle with a transaxillary incision method. The procedure in total cost $6,328.00. I apologize I do not have very good photos. I have always been fairly flat chested, but there was some tissue at least to work with until my second child, after I was done breast feeding him, I lost everything! My chest looked like that of an 11 year old boy.
My husband and I decided we are not having anymore children, and the opportunity arose financially, so I decided to pursue the surgery. I did a lot of research, looked at so many before and after photos. Real Self was an awesome tool that helped me reach my decision, as well as scored me a free consultation with Dr. Kiener. I like Dr. Kiener not only because he had good photos and by far the most experience than any other surgeon in this area (28 years), his reviews were solid and I was looking for someone that would do an incision other than inframammary, I understand that is easiest for the surgeon, and has the lowest rate of capsular contracture, but I really did not want any scarring on my breast if avoidable, and Dr. Kiener seemed to favor the transaxillary method (armpit).
So thanks to real self, and Dr. Kiener's cooperation I was granted a free consultation with Dr. Kiener. My experience was pleasant, his office has a very nice atmosphere, and the wait times are so ideal, I wish every doctor could offer that kind of service! He was very upfront, straight to the point about everything, pros and cons.
He informed me at this visit, because of my petite frame, that we would be looking at High Profile implants, because of their narrow base. I was concerned about this because I did not want to look super fake, or over-exaggerated, and then when he suggested the 375 CC, which with the sizers seemed really big for me, but Dr. Kiener and his staff reassured me that the high profile 375 CC would be the most ideal aesthetically and medically. And even though I had very little tissue to work with, because we were going under the muscle and the fact that I have had children made accommodating that size more feasible.
I also went with silicone gel instead of salines because of the warranty that accompanied the silicone vs saline, as well as the fact that the silicone offered a more natural look and feel, which was very important to me. I feel the silicone were well worth the extra money!
The surgery went well, I felt well cared for at the surgery center, excellent quality! As far as the pain goes, some women say they can get by with tylenol and no narcotics, but I found that to be impossible, if it were not for the muscle relaxers and percs I would have lost my mind because of the burning, pressure and tightness is almost unbearable, and it was this way for me for the first 5 to 7 days. Pain became more bearable around the 2nd week and I began to wean myself off the prescription meds, which about 4 1/2 weeks post-op I was able to get by without anymore prescription strength. I don't know if it is just my personal pain tolerance, but also the fact that I was stretched pretty far with the high profile and 375 CC may have made the recovery a bit more strenuous compared to women who may have had much more modest implant sizes and more tissue to work with. ??
Dropping and fluffing is stressful because all I did was worry that I was going to heal well and with the most ideal results. I religiously began my massage and exercises they recommend as soon as they said to. My left breast dropped and softened before the right breast, so I was very worried for a minute, but was reassured by other patients as well as my surgeon this was normal, especially because my right side is my dominant side so it fought a bit longer than my weaker left. The Doctor showed me some additional lower pole massages I could do to assist the implant in dropping into place, and that seemed to do the trick. By the 5th week my breasts were starting to look like normal breasts. And by 6 weeks, they were not only ideally positioned and soft but look amazing as well. My husband is just as satisfied with the results, and after being a little apprehensive because we were aware of the many risks, but the results this far have been better than what we had hoped for.
I went from hiding my upper body with extra padding and deceptive clothing to wishing I could legally walk around topless, as they look that good!
Dr. Kiener has the experience and it definitely shows. It would be my suggestion to go with what he suggests because he knows what he is talking about, definitely an artistic eye for aesthetics along with amazing medical skill/practice, so I would trust his opinion.
For the money and what you have to go through, the last thing you want is to regret this decision. I was very fortunate in my decision with Dr. Kiener, and I hope that anyone looking in the Reno area will give him priority in consideration.
