WORTH IT
I’m now 14 days post-op from my above-the-muscle breast augmentation and wanted to share an honest update, especially for other moms
— disclaimer * I’m an anxious girly at baseline and surgery and healing amped that up a bit in the past couple of weeks, having physical limitations and needing help with a lot of things!

Physically, healing has been very uneven side to side. My right breast is more swollen, sore, and slightly firmer, and still sitting higher, while my left has been dropping more comfortably. I’ve had areas of pressure, pulling sensations in the upper pole, and a fair amount of soreness that comes and goes depending on activity. I also experienced numbness around the nipple and lower breast on both sides, which I’ve learned is very normal early on as nerves stretch and recover.

My incisions themselves appear to be healing well, but frequent tape changes irritated my skin, leaving some raw, red lines underneath the breasts. Once I slowed down on changing tape and let the skin calm, that improved.

Mentally, this has been more challenging than I expected. I have a 1-year-old, and even being careful, in the past few days I’ve had to lift her into and out of her crib and car seat. That brought up a lot of anxiety about harming my implants or slowing healing, even though my surgeon reassured me that gentle, necessary lifting happens in real life and soreness doesn’t mean damage.

I’ve learned that swelling, asymmetry, numbness, pressure, and emotional ups and downs are very normal at this stage — especially for moms who can’t fully “rest” the way recovery instructions imagine. Healing isn’t day-by-day improvement; it’s waves. I had my mom come to stay with us for about the first 12 days post op to help with the baby and household when my husband is at work (he works 24 hour shifts) and this was NECESSARY — I was not comfortable or ready to lift up my daughter on my own especially in the first week.

If you’re early post-op and comparing yourself to quick-healing stories online, try not to. Everyone’s body (and life situation) is different. I’m reminding myself to be patient, wear support when moving, rest when I can, and trust the process. I’m still taking meds intermittently to manage swelling and pain, but overall I would say I’m noticing them start to drop (left more than right) and the discomfort of pressure and stretch is starting to alleviate. I still have no regrets in having my surgery and overall I am feeling more confident and sexy!!!! I’m so excited to get some new clothes and see how the drop and fluff will go!!!

December 3rd — surgery day!

The entire team was amazing right from the start. I was quickly introduced to my recovery nurse, who was the sweetest. She inserted my IV and sat with me, chatting about my anxiety regarding pain and recovery, and she was so validating—it’s totally normal to feel anxious! I also got to meet the anesthesiologist beforehand, which was great; she thoroughly reviewed my health history.
Before heading back, Dr. Avram came into the pre-op room. We sat down for one last chat to confirm the 490cc implant sizes. He was super reassuring, telling me I was in great health and a perfect candidate, which helped boost my optimism just before we started! The whole process of being prepped for surgery was quick and easy.
Going under anesthesia is always a little scary for me, and I had some anxiety about it, but the team was so reassuring. I had two female nurses right on either side of me as the anesthetic took effect, which made me feel very confident and comfortable that I was in the best hands.
Waking up in recovery, I was pretty groggy. I didn't have sharp pain, but definitely a lot of pressure and tightness across my chest. Luckily, the staff were right on top of pain management. They gave me my pain medicine immediately and provided clear instructions on when and how to take them. While my memory was hazy, I was so glad my partner was there to absorb the details! They also provided a printed copy of the instructions, which I’ve been diligently following at home.
Overall, the surgical team and the entire day were fantastic. I felt safe, cared for, and prepared every step of the way.

Here are some pictures of the implants the day of surgery, and in the few days following — you can see there is bruising and they are riding quite high with swelling! I have more updates to come :)

Hey everyone! So, if you're like me, feeling that post-breastfeeding confidence drop is a real thing. After nursing my first little one, my girls totally deflated, and at 29, I was feeling super bummed and honestly, a bit embarrassed about the loss of volume. I had gone from about a C/D to an A cup. That's when I dove headfirst into online research to find a surgeon, and that's how I stumbled upon Dr. Ronen Avram.
My main goal was to get back that full, symmetrical shape and volume I'd lost. After talking it through, we decided on 490cc smooth round implants, placed over the muscle, with a moderate plus profile. I won't lie, going with that size felt a little big at first, but with all the extra skin and stretch from breastfeeding, I really needed that volume.
My initial consultation at Skyn Clinic in Hamilton with Dr. Avram was seriously amazing. He spent over an hour with me, really listening to my goals, walking me through the whole procedure, and explaining everything from risks to how we'd achieve the look I wanted. He even had me try on different sizes in a post-op bra, which was super helpful. Originally, I thought 405cc would be it, but after some thought (and maybe a little "boob greed" – you know how it is!), I decided I wanted a bit more oomph to make sure I'd be happy once the swelling went down. Dr. A was so kind and understanding through it all, really compassionate about the confidence struggles us postpartum mamas face.
After that, his staff made everything super easy, helping me with payment plans and booking my surgery for December 3, 2025 – much sooner than I expected! All the info and forms I needed were emailed promptly, giving me plenty of time to read through everything at my own pace. I never felt pressured; it was totally comfortable and supportive, and I had full control over my size decision right up until surgery day.
Communication was mostly through email, but it was always clear and easy to follow for bloodwork, pre-op questionnaires, and consents. The office staff were always there for me, and Dr. A even gave me his cell number to text with any questions or concerns! I haven't had to use it, but knowing it's there is such a comfort. Honestly, all my questions were answered with care and honesty. I felt incredibly confident and prepared heading into surgery, knowing I was in good hands with a knowledgeable team – some of whom have even had their own augmentations with Dr. A! That really sealed the deal for me.

I’m attaching my before photos to this post..

You look fantastic! I hope you're happy with how they turn out after. Keep us posted! Were you a C/D when breastfeeding only or was that just your natural size and then went down to an A?

Hey there!! I was a full C before having my daughter, then I plumped out to a D while breastfeeding and when I finished breastfeeding they had completely lost volume and plumpness! I also lost a lot of weight after breastfeeding, about 75lbs (I was sick with shingles for a couple months) and keeping up with my little one helped me to shed off some of that weight. However it really was a hit to my self esteem that I felt I had lost my feminine curves with that weight.

I’m currently sitting at 108 lbs after surgery, and my height is 5”1, for context!

I just posted the next update with my after results!
