300cc implants - recovery wasn't as bad as I thought

Day 3 post op

WORTH IT
Able to walk around (no strenuous activity though) and back to regular meals. I can get up slowly without help and being mindful to use minimal chest muscle. Still some soreness and tightness at chest. I use ice packs at night for the swelling. Had bowel movement last night with the help of stool softener - still look/feel a bit bloated. Will be able to take a shower today carefully and with some help!

Overall recovery is smooth and pain isn’t bad at all. I had help staying on top of the medication and follow the Dr. Kim’s post op directions meticulously. I’m just a bit impatient about the boobs dropping, but of course it’ll be weeks before I get there. Will continue to update

Dr. Eugene Kim is the Best Part of His Entire Office

Virtual consultation 1/12/2022

I reached out to Dr. Kim via email and he scheduled a virtual consultation with me through his patient portal app. He’s warm and I instantly felt comfortable with him. My initial email had a bunch of questions which he answered promptly. The virtual consultation was a more detailed extension of that and we scheduled a pre op appt. I just expressed that I wanted to get the surgery done within the month and he assured me we can make that happen. I paid the deposit for the pre op appt which goes toward your total surgery payment.

Pre op 1/18/2022

I met one of the pre op staff and we went over a stack of paperwork for me to sign. She explained all pre op and post op instructions. I would’ve gotten my blood work done that day, but decided to go to my primary care physician instead. Emailing the medical clearance was easy. You also need to make sure you email your covid negative results within 3 days of your surgery.

Dr. Kim came into the room to meet me to take before photos and measurements. He’s very honest and realistic about sizing based on my body frame and proportion. I did email him a PowerPoint slide showing the look I have want and examples of what I don’t want. Some of these photos were from his Instagram too. He understood my wishes and told me that with my frame, the largest he can go is 300cc which will bring me to a full C. I was honestly disappointed because I was hoping for 415cc (a lot of the wish photos from his work had 415cc in common, but he told me it’s unrealistic for my frame). I trusted him though and knew he is doing what’s best for my proportion while aiming for the look I specifically want. He really puts his patients health first and doesn’t want to harm anyone/make them look crazy. His work clearly shows this. I also never felt rushed by him. He was very punctual for every appt and very responsive to emails. I also said emailed him after our pre op that I changed my mind about the incision and he told me it won’t be a problem. I knew this was the best PS and my top choice doctor for my BA.

Surgery Day 1/26/2022

Checked in with pre op nurse at 12pm. She took down my friend’s contact info who was my transportation to and from the office. The operation itself would be about an hour but my total stay there would be about 3 hours. Went to the restroom to change and place belongings in lockers. Had to pee in a cup. I put on the provided hair net, compression stockings, socks, surgical panties, and gown. You can bring your phone and glasses which they’ll place in a tray before you go into the OR. Pre op nurse took me to the pre op room to take my vitals and sign more paperwork. She inserted the IV.

Dr. Kim then came in to mark me. We aligned again on incision, size, profile, and implant. He’s very positive and ready and it made me feel the same way despite the nerves and anxiety I’ve been feeling up to that point lol

Anesthesiologist came in (can’t remember if this was before or after Dr. Kim) but he just said his name and barely made eye contact or conversation. Just looked down at his paperwork then left to go back to the OR.

OR nurse took me to another room and I laid on the operating (surgical?) bed with my arms straight out. Anesthesiologist administered the “relaxing” fluids and I started to feel like I’m floating. The next thing I know I’m awake and slightly groggy in the pre op room. I was in and out of sleep. No nausea at all. The nurse helped me get dressed and wheelchaired me out to my friend downstairs. She also helped me into the car and carefully put the seatbelt on me.

For the rest of the day I was in and out of sleep. Slept well through the night sitting upright. Was able to have a cup of chicken noodle soup.

Overall staff comments

You always have an actual person on the line to pick up your calls and answer your questions. They also always follow up and call for appt reminders. When checking in there’s little to no wait time - they’re very punctual. They’re not warm and welcoming similar to what other reviewers mention.

I would also agree with the other reviews that the anesthesiologist had zero bedside manners and actually made me feel uneasy. He’s the polar opposite of Dr. Kim. However, the preop nurse was warm and made the experience more pleasant. She made the needle/IV insertion as comfortable as possible.

Day 1 post op

Recovery wasn’t as bad as I thought it was! My friend and family is staying with me for the week. They’re religious with the pain meds and antibiotic alarms. No issues sleeping. No nausea - I ate small portion meals and focused on hydration. Able to use the restroom on my own but needed help getting out of bed. No bowel movement so far and I even took 1 stool softener. Definitely feel the bloat starting. Laughing also hurts my chest a little. Constant tightness and pressure at chest but pain was controlled. There were a couple times I had difficulty breathing/shortness of breath. Boobs look hard, high, and kind boxy. I have little breast tissue to begin with and trust the drop and fluff timing. Dr. Kim called this morning to check in and I communicated all of this to him. It’s normal and recovery sounds like it’s going smooth. We scheduled my 1 week post op.

Will update at 1 week~
