Botched Breasts
I went to Dr Burns for a mommy makeover including breast implants, tummy tuck, and lipo 360.
My tummy tuck came out great, but I had issues with my breasts from the beginning. They were uneven and I began having pain in my right side early on. They put me on singulair for capsular contracture. The incision under this breast opened partway and took about 8 weeks to close fully. In this time, Dr Burns never saw it. I was in contact with his nurse and she instructed me to keep it moist with antibiotic ointment and covered with a non-adherent pad.
About 6 months after my procedure, I began noticing my left breast was drooping off the implant, creating a "snoopy nose" deformity. Then my right began looking very odd, but Dr Burns said everything was fine at my follow ups. As things continued over the next couple of months, my right breast began looking truly awful. It was balled up on my chest like I had severe capsular contracture. I went to Dr Burns and said I was not happy with the appearance and he said that we were "on the fence" about needing a lift (a lift was NEVER mentioned to me in my consultation or pre-op) and that I needed a breast lift to fix it and it would cost me another $10,000. He never even mentioned capsular contracture.
I found another surgeon because I had lost trust in Dr Burns at this point, and he immediately recognized I had capsular contracture in both breasts and that the implants I had were likely too small for the space I needed to fill after 3 kids and weight loss 10 years ago.
I had an implant exchange and capsulectomy Friday and when my surgeon opened me up, he discovered the pocket on my right side was never dissected properly and said it looks like two different surgeons did my procedure. My contracture was not as bad as it appeared, but the muscle was pulling my breast up and towards my armpit, giving it a very distorted appearance.
I am out of pocket $6500 to fix this mess, but I am glad I went with someone else. Dr Burns has a great reputation, and my new surgeon was very surprised at what he found.
