Bloody Situation

I don’t even know where to begin. But all I can say is I love my results and I love the team my doctor and his team.
First off let me tell you a little about myself. I am 24-year-old female 5’6” with or shall I say had, tuberous breast with very minimal breast tissue. I always wanted to have a breast augmentation since I was probably a teenager, but even when I turned 18, I was too scared to follow through and get one because of the cost and of what I think how my family would have reacted (very traditional). Throughout the years, I would randomly research different doctors but of course at this age, all I cared about was the cost. I was even considering flying to the Mainland or other countries such as Brazil, Korea, or Thailand because people told me it would be a lot cheaper and these doctors are just as experienced. It wasn’t until this year, one of my very close friends who she and I had a conversation about getting it done a few months ago told me that she will be getting it done in a couple weeks. I was sooooo Jealous. I decided that I was old enough and that it no longer mattered (well it never did matter) about what others thought, but that I was doing this for me and my self-image. Because I ended up helping my friend for her post op, and I trusted her judgment on results, I decided to just go to the same doctor as she did. Let me just say I did not just go to any random doctor. When she mentioned Dr. Schlesinger’s name, it lit a bulb in my head because he was definitely one of the top doctors on the island that I previously did research on. VERY soon after, I called to book a consultation which I was able to go within the next week or so and I. Although he gets fully booked and I waited for a while, it was definitely worth it. This is how my consultation went in a nutshell.
Doctor asked me what cup size I wanted. I said, a full B. Doctor looked and me and said, “You’re going to pay all that money for a B!?!?!?!” In my head I knew I only wanted a B because I didn’t want it too obvious that I have fake breast. He made me try the silicone with a C and even a D cup size. I’m glad that he influenced me to go bigger, even the staff reassured me that I will love it and that I shouldn’t worry that it’ll be “too big.”
Fast forward to the day of my surgery. I will try to make this as simple as possible… Surgery seemed to go well, luckily for all the scheduled follow ups that comes after. By the second day after surgery I noticed a pain that I knew wasn’t right around 7 at night. Luckily for me the doctor was still in and allowed me to see him. He gave me necessary medication needed and wanted me to follow up again the next day. He eventually decided to take out the implant because of the lack of blood going to my nipples. He assured me that they will be put back in but to make sure I’m safe he needs to take it out. I was pretty bummed but better safe than sorry. Fast forward to the day after taking it out, he planned a week to put it back in. He explained his reasons and I fully trusted him. He said now that my skin is stretched, and I created new blood vessels it should be safe, so fast forward to that day. After I woke from the second time trying to get the implants in, I ended up waking up with still no boobs. They explained to me that while they were doing my procedure, I kept oozing blood on both sides. After the third time going through a surgery, I finally felt the boobie blues. Although I feel most people would quit at this point, I was so determined to get mines done, both me and my surgeon. He knew that something was wrong, so he referred me to a blood specialist at a near by hospital. For a month I did blood testing and it apparently my test results came back normal. The surgeon reassured me that if I did have something, it will be fixed with medicine, and if I didn’t have anything than I don’t have anything. Eventually we scheduled my final surgery. I was nervous but I so excited.
Fast forward again and I had a normal procedure. He told me that he wanted to go as big and safe as possible. So even though I probably went down a size I was happy with my results. Although I was healing perfectly normal for the first few days, on day 3 (the day that I was supposed to get my tubes taken out in the morning, but surgeon decided to keep it in just to be safe) I started to bleed more than normal, and this was later at night. Thank god for him being available 24/7 he decided that I should check into the ER. Although I stayed at the hospital for a couple days, I later found out that my blood clots normally but doesn’t hold it long and it quickly dissolves. This time I kept my boobs and I am happy. It sucked that I had to go through all that, but I am glad I had a surgeon and his team that was supportive, caring, and just as determined as I was. He was right all along, he knew something wasn’t right with my blood, and even though my test came out normal, he still made me go the safe route. Jenna even came by the hospital to visit me, bring me food and magazines. Although I know some people would blame the surgeon, he actually helped me find a medical problem I didn’t know about. Sooo now whenever I go through any type of surgery including wisdom teeth, I must take a medication to help with my bleeding. I am forever grateful that I stuck with him and I went through this because it really is a blessing in disguise. I learned that even the best surgeons will go through problems and speed bumps or complications, but only the best ones know how to fix it. They all genuinely cared about me and I appreciate all of their good work helping people including myself feel beautiful inside and out:)
