WORTH IT
Hey! I can't believe that I'm here and really doing this, and also documenting my journey to all of you! But RealSelf has been so fundamental in my research of breast augmentation I feel it's my responsibility to share my experience and help others too.
My story is the typical one. I never really had boobs to begin with, and what little I had, vanished completely after breastfeeding two kids and exercising a lot. At the moment, there is no push up bra in the world that would give me cleavage since there is just nothing to lift, haha. I've been thinking about breast augmentation for years, never being completely serious about it though. It's kind of been a last resort, a thought that I've comforted myself with when I've felt super unhappy about my breasts. I hate it how at the gym my chest is just completely flat, and how impossible it is to find even a remotely fitting bra. I'm super self conscious in swimwear. I'm just done with it and feel like it's now or never.
My biggest concern is my kids and the fact that I can't pick them up for so long. My six-year old doesn't really need to be carried around anymore, but the 3 year old is a different story. Also, I work out a lot and having to skip upper body workouts for at least 6 weeks and not to be able to do my HIIT routine is giving me great anxiety. It's such fundamental part of my everyday life and a way to boost my spirits and handle my stress levels... it's going to be tough. But, I've decided it's going to be worth it - a little hiatus and I'll have boobs for the rest of my life. Hurray! I'm ready to do this!!

Love your story. We as women/moms are so demanding on ourselves - on so many levels. This is something just for you - good for you! You look like you're in great shape, , which you should be able to retain even taking a break, and it won't be long before you are back to your routine...only looking even more amazing in your gym gear:). I go for my BA/TT in one week! Can't wait to follow your journey!

I’m not going to lie, the hardest part for me has been missing my regular gym routine. I’m almost four weeks post op and I’ve been doing legs and only legs for two weeks. I can start abs this week as long as it feels ok. Don’t rush anything though because you will want to. Holding your 3 year old will be a challenge. My niece is 3 and wanted me to hold her last week but I wasn’t able to. I had exactly the same issue as you with my swimsuit before. NOT ANYMORE!! I’m so excited for you!!

Hope it's all going to be worth it!! Just have to embrace the healing period, not get agitated about not being able to work out and fingers crossed kids won't get sick, because that's when they would need to be held and carried around! The thought freaks me out a bit, bad mom vibes...

I did hamstring stretches for week 1, and did a gentle yoga class at week 2 (now). The physio had given me shoulder stretches to do immediately. I will wait 4 weeks before I try any weights though. I think British surgeons are more relaxed about post-op activities (maybe fewer lawsuit s here). I was driving two days after op. I had implant replacement of 300 sub muscular (previously PIP gel-filled which had folded over and looked weird). I do wear a sturdy sports bra all the time, and use Sheald healing balm on stitch line. Sally

Consultation

I had my consultation with Dr Marc Mani and immediately felt I could trust him and that he understood what my goal was. I want something natural, proportional. I'm quite petite, and the last thing I want from the augmentation is to be top heavy and have unnatural looking breasts that don't fit my frame. Dr Mani estimated that the biggest implant that would fit would be Mentor 250cc. He prefers textured ones, which concerns me a bit - will they be stiffer and more visible since I have very little breast tissue? He also suggested aeoral incision since I don't really have a crease, and under the muscle. The aeoral incision makes me a bit nervous and was a bit disappointing, but I understand the doctor's point and don't want to have a scar that is visible at all times. It just sounds so scary! I'm also scared of losing sensation in my nipples.
Surgery is now scheduled for January 19th!! About 5 weeks to go! I'm yet to decide on the final size, hoping I can come out of the pre op appointment feeling confident about my choice. The 250cc rice sizers I made felt huge initially. Maybe 230cc or so would be better? Gosh, it's so hard to pick the right one!! I'd rather go a bit too small than too large. My goal is that when clothed, no one will notice a difference. Anyone out there with smaller range implants?! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I would suggest going the 250cc. Sizers look bigger than the implant will under your muscle and when swelling resolves and they drop they will lool great. I have 275 and wish i had gone bigger.

Thank you for the input! It's true that you lose a bit of volume when going under the muscle. Makes it that much harder to estimate what would be the perfect fit! Ugh! I also doubt if the rice sizers are very reliable? They are so hard and resemble more high profile implants, whereas I'm thinking moderate.

I am thin and petite and went for 255ccs, high profile under the muscle, under breast incision. I often feel like I went slightly too big. However, unless I'm wearing clingy clothes, I look like I did before when wearing a mega padded bra. I went from a 34aa to a full B cup. It's been 4.5 months for me and I'm just starting o drop and fluff. I was almost flat so everything takes longer to soften. My left is sitting higher and my incision is abit visible, but the scar on the right is nicely in the crease. This is strange as I had abit more breast tissue on the left to start with and I am right-handed, so I bough it would drop faster. Over time, the left scar has become less visible and eventually I think it will move into the crease area. If I could choose again, I think 200-220ccs would have been ideal for me. Best of luck whatever you choose!

Great results! It's hard to believe they're only 255cc's! Maybe because you are so petite overall. I think they look very good on you though! Must be so nice to be so far along the recovery lane already!

I'm looking to have smaller implants as well. I also did rice sizers (at home) of 300cc size and they looked huge to me. I tried the 200 and it looked better to me. I'm so worried about recovery, if they will feel tight since I'm barely an A. Im due for my first consultation next week. I'm excited but also nervous. I will be following your journey.

Good luck to your consultation! Very exciting! What are your stats? Hope the doctor's opinion will help you narrow down the size options!

I'm 5'7" 145. Hippy but smaller up top. Current bra size is 32A but I don't fill it. Breastfed so I have deflation but no sagging.

Hi there! I hear ya on the wanting to go a bit smaller than a bit larger .... my surgery is in 4 Days My surgeon recommends 240. I’m still undecided and may go with 210. People keep telling me 30ccs is such a tiny difference, I shouldn’t stress over it but I think for smaller framed gals... i bet we can tell and feel the difference.

Wow, your surgery is just around the corner! Best of luck!! We are very similar in stats. I'm 5'3" and about 115lbs. Amount of breast tissue is probably about the same, I may have slightly less. I'll definitely be following your journey! Personally, I think I'll be able to better tolerate boob greed than going too big. But of course we would all want to pick just the perfect size! So hard. Good luck with everything and keep us posted!!

I've been browsing so many pictures and my phone is filled with pictures of boobs! If anyone unaware of this project would see them they'd think I'm such a weirdo haha. Many of these pics are from RS and some are pics of the users. If you spot yourself take it as a great compliment!!
Also forgot to share my stats earlier, I'm 5'3" and 115lbs.

We have the same stats, mostly. I’m 5’2” and 113. I wore a 34A cup before. I haven’t been officially sized yet but I think I’m a 34C now.
