I'd been going back and forth on getting an augmentation for a few years and finally decided to do it. After having 3 children, my breasts went back and forth in size so much and I was just tired of it. Any time I got into nice physical shape my boobs just diminished.
I was wearing a 34B VS bra but had a bit of gapping but 34A was too small and I spilled over, so I was probably an in-between size.
Dr.Swanson was great during the consultation and pre-op phase. He helped me to select a size that would give me a full look but not look "over the top".
I can't wait to see the final results!

Day 1

Surgery was at 7:30 am. I was ready to go home at 9am. First day was very sleepy. Lots of pain meds. My most intense pain didn't set in until overnight. Make sure you have a nice pillow fortress propped up so you can sleep upright and with your arms supported. I was using ice packs with a pillow case in between (so my sin wouldn't get too cold). That helped to relieve some of the burning pain.

Thanks for sharing your story! I’m having a Breast Lift with Implants performed by Dr. Swanson next month. Would love to see photos and hear more about your journey to recovering!

WOW - lots of up's and downs!

So, surgery was Thursday morning. It's now Sunday.
I'm FINALLY starting to feel a little better. I'm shocked at how many people said they were driving and working so quickly and that this is an "easy procedure".
I'll start off by saying that I was in the military. I went through boot camp, 2 months of additional combat medical training, and delivered 3 children vaginally. I thought that this would be comparable, no big deal.
I know everyone is different but this was HORRID. I have no idea what is different about my case, but apparently I am NOT one of the lucky few who experience such an easy recovery.
It was all downhill starting Friday morning. I went to a next day follow up - which the assistants insisted I go to. The day of surgery I called the office to say I wasn't sure i'd find a next day ride to my appointment (last minute) and she actually suggested to me that I not take pain meds and drive myself. I get that SOME people do that, but honestly... Hopefully that is NOT something they are advised to say to patients who are 1 day post op - ridiculous. If Dr.Swanson see's this review, hopefully he addresses it.
Friday: Anyway, at my follow up the assistants did a quick ultrasound for DVT and took off my foam tape (which was having an allergic reaction), told me to put hydrocortisone on it. They told me I could shower and to follow up in a week.
Saturday: This day was the worst. Over time my pain started ramping up. I was taking 2 hydro q4hrs and honestly (in hindsite) was probably overdoing it. I took a couple at 1pm. When I woke up from a nap around 3pm I was experiencing extreme shortness of breath. I felt like I was breathing but air wasn't entering my lungs. Was concerned I may need to go to the ER but called Dr.Swanson's line. His nurse took a message and he returned my call. He said if I had difficulties breathing again that I should get a chest x-ray at the ER to be safe. I know this is stupid but I have terrible insurance so I decided to wait it out and give myself time to calm down. In addition to likely having a bad reaction to the meds, in hindsite I think it caused a panic attack. My boyfriend who is is orthodontist (NOT MD lol) and his brother who is an anesthesiologist came and took my vitals. I'm fairly sure they don't do this often but I let them pretend to know - lol. It just helped to have company during the distress.
I had to have someone sleep overnight because I was so panicked that if I stopped breathing in my sleep no one would be there to know. I know this is EXTREMELY DRAMATIC, but this is the kind of panic that was induced. I truly truly think it was the meds now. I quit the opiates immediately after the respiratory distress.
Sunday: My breathing has normalized again. I've been managing my pain with 500mg of naproxen this am and 800mg ibu late afternoon. I likely won't take anything else until midnight or so.
SIDENOTE - the day after surgery a red rash mid-chest started to worsen. It has weird white pustules. Dr.Swanson said it was likely a yeast infection and called in a cream for it.
Honestly, I just feel like i'm not the run of the mill person here. People say this is so easy. I was having SERIOUS SERIOUS regrets for the first few days. I thought i'd just severely damaged a perfectly good body and put my life in jeopardy through respiratory distress. Like I say again, I'm not typical apparently. HOPEFULLY everything goes smoothly from here and it's actually worth it. I have many friends who had breast augmentation who are really surprised by my recovery process. Some are nurses also, so they have helped to guide me along the way.
Sorry such a long post! I'll put pics next. Some may be from day 1- 4 since I haven't been updating regularly! Hopefully from here on out the posts are more positive! :)

Oh my goodness girl this sounds awful!! Hopefully it’s just the meds causing the issues and it all passes now that you switched off. I’m so hesitant to take anything stronger than Tylenol so we will see how I do when my time comes. Please keep us posted on you recovery and especially if Dr Swanson’s follow-up care is good or not. Hang in there!!

I've only taken 500mg of naproxen today. The rash is still there with pustules. My nurse friends don't think it's a skin yeast issue (as they see those infections regularly in the hospital). Not to mention it's in an open area of skin (no folds etc). If it doesn't get better I'm going to go see my pcm. I'd hate to have staph or something and not get seen. Eek!
Was a little surprised I didn't get a follow up call today from Dr.Swanson, but if it doesn't improve I'll call him as well. I'm usually the lowest maintenance patient ever. I hate feeling needy!
